I have been trying to persuade her to go to her GP but it is complicated....the GP would probably want to medicate her and that is something this other organisation are saying she cannot have.
Personally, I believe she needs the help her GP would be able to give, even if that means medication but she is so scared of letting people down at this organisation, that she says she cannot go.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Is it a religious organisation?
people like Christian scientists are opposed to medication but are not geenrally opposed to professional ''talking'' therapies. It would be a good idea to keep working on this even if for the non medical treatments. If things are touching your own demons then., to be brutally honest, you need to put yourself, and by extension your children, first.0 -

Mainstream religious organisations don't generally have a problem with either medication or talking therapies, beyond suggesting that people having talking therapies make sure their therapist is willing to work in sympathy with their religious views. The usual approach is to tell the person to seek professional help and come to the religious organisation for prayer and/or extra talking as well.
The kind of organisation that would tell its people not to go to a GP for fear of being given medication is likely to say that the only acceptable talking therapy is within the organisation (although Christian Scientists may be different). Organisations that take that view range from the well meaning but misguided to the downright dangerous, IMO. Try to encourage your friend to think for herself about what is the right thing to do, or what God wants, or whatever, rather than accepting what she is told without examining it.
Sue, if you feel you need to support your friend in what sounds to be an impossible situation, at least get some support for yourself, so you can offload what's going on and not be dragged down by it. Or get some help yourself for your own demons, or something. As lir says, your priority has to be to remain sane and functional yourself, if not for yourself then for your boys.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
today, for the first time in MONTHS, I took dog-dog out of the garden without a lead on.
Her default run now is three legged, which is fine, it avoids stressing that leg. She was so happy not to be on a lead (she dislikes lead walking). I held big dog though, to avoid dog-dog getting to badly knocked. Watching them play is terrifying, it sounds and looks frightful...teeth and growling and leaping like savages. Too early for that yet.
Its been a weird day....several different weathers, from sunny and warm through chilly and grey to decent rain.0 -
Yep had good amount of rain last night. Thank goodness. It looks like Arizona out back at the moment0
