I can't go to sleep. Can't stop watching. Slightly scared, for little reason. I don't think Birmingham is nearly as bad but the pictures of Reeves Corner burning are just shocking to me, Croydon girl that I was, I went to school less than 100metres from that spot. The shop was such a local institution and there are some shocking photos coming out. Not sure if the daily mirror will have time to get the woman jumping out of a building, silhouetted by flames, into the arms of policemen onto their front page.

Constant, constant reports of different fires etc all over London and trying to follow on radio, twitter and the TV all at the same time. :( I think it's calming down and then there's another phone conversation on the TV with someone clearly with adrenaline in their voice. Individuals relaying stories of their homes being ransacked whilst they were in them, shop workers being beaten up - the personal toll of all of this.

Watching people's home burning, live on TV, in Croydon. Those poor people. Homeless for no reason at all. I've not felt the need to before, but I could weep now.

It might not be tonight, though! She's on her third night in the stables tonight anyway.

Last time she acted as midwife, for her mate's mare, it was about 3am.

The foal is to keep, and for eventing. She loves the mare, but she had a bad leg injury a while ago, so can only hack (the horse, not Olivia!)

CCTV rigged up is good for this. Must be so much easier now with web cams etc. Mare's don't like to foal when we are about generally...but your sister will know what to look for....once thouse final signs appear you pretty much know it will be within a fortnight.

They can go significantly over term though....we induced special girl when she was 6 weeks over term.....vet and I were getting scared. Ridiculously her filly foal, who was immensely huge, had some signs of being premature despite going so dramatically over term!

I went upstairs and listen to it play out on the radio, and I agree with you absolutely.

So have any of the nice people been out for a good old fashioned riot yet? I think if I was still in London I'd have gone for a look but smashing up the place isn't my thing really.

DH's cousin went to have a look see last night in wood green, but nothing kicked off.

TBH, I think people should keep in, keep their errant teens in and let them take more aggressive action against them. I think part of the problem is with reports of so many of them being 14 yo who wants to set a water canon on them. IMO May is being too soft. While innocent people's businesses, employment, homes and buildings smash and burn....time to get out the big but not fatal guns.

I was looking at a variety of news websites on my laptop in bed, and didn't get to sleep until very late either. Awful awful things happening.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I slept very badly too, sadly.

Lily's sleeping two doors away from Lottie, she said. She also said she's sure it will be soon (I don't know what signs she noticed, though).

Its quite obvious. You get wax on the teats in advance, but then also, and most tellingly, the muscles need to soften....their back ends get very soft, instead of feeling firm and muscular, and the shape changes as the muscles soften. :)

Oh well, I'm up. Ended up watching the riot until 1pm last night, then decided it just wasn't healthy.

You've got to say, those people are b astards.

edit: this story http://www.dailytech.com/Earths+Dirty+Secret+Our+Magnetic+Field+Traps+Antimatter/article22375.htm is cool.

Non errant teens also ordered to come home and stay indoors! Youngest was at the cinema a few miles from home and ordered to come home as soon as film finished. No riots that near him, but I wasn't risking action spreading or anyone in his group suggesting they take a look.
