  • LIR, my second sister has come over all Biblical, and is sleeping in a stable - ready to be a midwife, as one of her horses is about to give birth.

I loathe people who just smash things up or set fire to them. I don't care why they do it. It's just destructive, no point to it at all.

I don't know why, but I'm reminded of a couple of friends who had a bit of a spat one evening. She said "If I were married to you, I'd kill you". His very quick response was "If I were married to you, I'd kill myself!"

Didn't he nick that from Churchill? Nancy Astor's supposed to have said that if they'd been married to each other she'd put poison in his tea, and he replied that, married to her, he'd drink it.

I always come back from holidays having lost weight. We eat properly and certainly have more for breakfast than I would at home. But there is no snacking and we walk a lot, not proper walks but just walking into towns and villages and generally walking between things. So either a bit of exercise goes a long way or those snacks that are constantly available at home add up.

Maybe work more walking into your normal daily round?

Hope it all goes well. I lost one shortly before I was ill foaling.....special girl's daughter, the foal survived. I still have to go back and check horses that look like her to check they aren't her and have a weep......ironically she's the only one I ever sent to stud to foal, ''just in case''.

Hope Lemonjelly is ok now too :(
  • I hope it does too - Olivia's more hoping it hurries up, so she can sleep in her nice comfy bed, rather than in a stable (-:

Its usually sometime between now and five :)

Once its born you can't leave as you are transfixed by the gorgeousness of it and the mare together. Is the foal to keep? Bred for eventing?

You know that these are all good samaritans, taking the shopkeeper's goods home for safe keeping before the shop is set afire.

They are quite young. Bored school kids? LBC talked about them being 14 to 15, some with their bikes.

It's all very localised, by the way. Nothing happening round here.

Nothing round here, but it does seem to be in lots of places:

It might not be tonight, though! She's on her third night in the stables tonight anyway.

Last time she acted as midwife, for her mate's mare, it was about 3am.

The foal is to keep, and for eventing. She loves the mare, but she had a bad leg injury a while ago, so can only hack (the horse, not Olivia!)

So have any of the nice people been out for a good old fashioned riot yet? I think if I was still in London I'd have gone for a look but smashing up the place isn't my thing really.

The cold weather came back. It's frrrreeeezing. It must be 12C or something. We should get the day off when it's like this, it's inhumane and unAustralian to expect me to brave these sorts of conditions.

No riots or anything here. Australia is just sort of watching on bemused as Europe and the US go mad.

It reminds me of a woman I saw at the Oval a few years back. She'd had too much sun and I suspect that drink had been taken. She asked for 2 ice creams and handed one to her friend. She then forgot that had happened and got angry that she only got change from 2 ice creams not one. She got properly hysterical, crying and laughing and abusing this staff member. This woman was about 60 and must have had 100 people looking at her in amazement as she lost the plot.
