I always come back from holidays having lost weight. We eat properly and certainly have more for breakfast than I would at home. But there is no snacking and we walk a lot, not proper walks but just walking into towns and villages and generally walking between things. So either a bit of exercise goes a long way or those snacks that are constantly available at home add up.

I put a couple of lbs on this year on holiday. The ice cream was just too good :EasterBun

I mostly prefer foreign food but i guess we all eat a bit better on holiday.

The one exception was Caribbean which i didn't think much of food wise, maybe i wasn't eating in the right places :undecided

Thanks for the above info Lydia

    The opposite of this:

While I have no desire ever to vault, Jean Francois Pignon's relationship with his horses is enviable. I'm satisfied to acheive a fraction of it with one horse at a time....or leading one and riding one.
    .

oh wow that guy is a pleasure to watch. How did he train them or does he adapt to the natural behaviour? He also seems to be a bit of a gymnast.:)

Don't be sad. I love being with them, I can still do some stuff. We've decided to retire special girl this year anyway....time means dh never gets up either.

Who knows what'll happen. :) I'm keeping one eye half open still, for a girl or two with very specific parametres (partly because they come up so rarely I'm unlikely to find one and cause a financial dilemma any time soon!). I can work from the ground with them, maybe have them professionally ridden if that appeals, or breed lovely baby horses who get a fair start in life. I never say never, when we're a bit more comfortable here I can maybe refocus back to me and spend some time training with someone a few times a year, which would help. Inconsistancy really is no good for things, and I don't want to develop poor muscle memory struggling on now. I sometimes sit on one of the horses here, but its not ''riding'' as such, not the sort that benefits me, I just work with him a bit to play and clarify some things to him, because he loves to play that game and his owner isn't bothered (he's a paying guest).

Special girl doesn't mind us having a random sit, like the guy above, tackless and tactful. :) Nothing to be sad about...not yet. :)

No news from PN today :(

A random sit :) like it.

I was thinking the same about PN too......

Its beautiful isn't it. There are a few others.

I also love, love this chap

but equally, I find similarity in what people with tack and more formal situation do....and its less scary than going out in the open with several loose flight animals!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVciE_KBLYg an old clip of a current master.

But this guy is sort of the Jesus of mordern classical dressage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TJkDYo1BPA

The thing is your brief post opens up several cans of worms boring to anyone but me!

Dressage purists will always claim that ALL dressage training (dressage actually just means training, but we mean it in the sense of thre ''dancing'' stuff when as a sport...) is based on natural movements and refined and enhanced. That's not always quite right...but arguably acceptable up to the ''normally advanced'' stuff that most riders, and even most elite riders will perform.

Training, even stuff that looks v, soft and friendly...e.g. no tack, can be very harsh, (I won't post those, might be defamatory!) whereas lots of tack isn';t necessarily harsh......all lies with the trainer. There are several ways to progress this sort of thing. There is a v. comtroversial ''new school'' or training for example, called Parelli....an American guy....he's interesting, and iuts financially been very successful for him. Clicker is REALLY popular at the moment. Personally, I like me, some tools...like a whip...(with which I point and tap and tickle, its never, ever a punishment, just touching somewhere for some reason you can't reach...e.g. if I am ''telling'' the horse something through its mouth with reins, and I want to keep that message but also say, ''and now your back right foot' please', I need to be able to reach it without leaving the mouth....on top the same thing applies) and a bridle. Lots of love, (I also use bribery with food!) and knowing when it goes wrong its almost never the horses fault, but your own. The most important things are patience, body language, understanding your goal and understanding the appropriate and fair way to acheive it...and your own and the horse's limitations. :)

shocked at the photos and videos of the london riots. the east croydon furniture shop was an old-fashioned family shop, now gone for good.

hope none of the nice people aren't caught up :(

Yep, I hope you are all safe. Been a bit worried about dh. He said the office was very quiet today...any excuse to work from home.

edit: I don't want him here right now, I'm getting another cold. Still, had a few months off them. *sigh*

You know that these are all good samaritans, taking the shopkeeper's goods home for safe keeping before the shop is set afire.

They are quite young. Bored school kids? LBC talked about them being 14 to 15, some with their bikes.

It's all very localised, by the way. Nothing happening round here.

Facebook is a wonderful tool for organising riots, by the way. School's out, and there's nothing to do. Tell you what, we'll all meet down in central hackney, the Police will line up, and we can throw stones at them for fun. That sort of thing.
