Asda misprices & discussion thread - claim your £2 giftcard for over-prices

My branch of Asda is staffed by absolute witches, I have been overcharged so many times and have never met with anything but a sour face and a stroppy attitude when I have sought to have it corrected. They are vile, and Asda is bottom of my choice of supermarkets because of it.
I remember over a year ago I was overcharged and, having been kept SO long waiting for a refund at the CS desk, I asked for the gift card - and was refused. I then wrote to Head Office, who confirmed that yes, each branch SHOULD offer the gift card for any overcharge.
I kept the e-mail for a while, intending to produce it with a flourish in the event of further disputes - but the fact is, most times I am so fed up at having to hang around, explain, and wait for my refund, that I usually just accept the difference rather than argue for the gift card. I resent them using up my time, effort and energy!
What has made me think again is this. I bought an item, marked on offer, and was overcharged £1 for it - the regular price. I queued as usual for my refund - but did not ask for a gift card. BUT: when I went back into the store two weeks later, bought the same item - still on offer - again, and once more got overcharged, I saw red! I asked for the gift card - and was flatly refused. I asked to speak to the duty manager. The sour witch dealing with me trotted off to find him, casting over her shoulder a hostile "but it won't make any difference!". When she came back she smugly reaffirmed that she woudn't give me a gift card. I then said I would write to Head office about it because I knew she was wrong. She sarcastically replied, "you do that then".
What really, really, P
s me off about this is the hundreds of other customers who will have bought this product in the intervening two weeks - and been overcharged £1, and either not realised, or been given the same witchy response that I got. It's no wonder that the supermarkets are rolling in billions of pounds of profit! But in any other circumstance, this would be called STEALING... which it is. Grrrr!0 -

I don't understand why the staff act like it comes out of their wage packet.
I had a run in with customer services a few years back. I bought a microwave meal for lunch at work which was reduced as going out of date that day. When I opened it to cook, it was clearly 'off' and smelt terrible. Luckily I worked opposite Asda so went straight across and explained - no apology at all, just got the money back, slapped into my hand.
I wrote to head office explaining what had happened. They said I should have been offered a replacement PLUS a refund. They also sent me a £10 voucher.
I don't understand why these people work in customer service when they obviously have no idea about customer satisfaction.
I have had pleasant experiences but then it's always the unpleasant ones that stick in your mind.My daughters are my world0 -

I had a gone off banquet in a bag meal (you know those look a like takeaways), I used to like using the supermarket rather than the take away as I felt more confident of the hygiene.........
Anyway it was rotten:eek: The manager disputed it smelt rotten & begrudgling gave me a refund..............
How about we all email the interested parties at Asda (the CS & whoever else would find it of interest) a starndard letter (anyone care to devise) outlining the concerns raised in this thread & the web link to this thread - so they can view the free publicity;) & ask for a explanation. After all this website is viewed by millions so I would like to think they would like to put the record straight re their policies.........0 -

I imagine ASDA have already spotted the thread and are aware of the publicity
FWIW I am on the ASDA survey panel, they send me surveys every so often, no cash but prize draw sort of thing. Any way they used to ask if there was anything I could tell the MD to sort out, I said sort out the spices / herbs shelves as they were an absolute disgrace, empty racks etc, it was sorted the next day
I also mentioned the "parking" of "stuff" in the greengrocer aisles, the "stuff" disappeared overnight and has not returned for over a year
The point I am trying to make is that ASDA do listen / read and will correct a problem from Head Office, so those who have witches in CS, name the store for instanceEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

I bought ham from Asda a few months ago. I took it home and when I opened it was disgusting, definitely gone off. I returned it to the store and complained. They refunded the cost. I came home and e-mailed them and they replied and said that a £10 gift card was waiting for me at CS.0 -
I got over charged the other day and had to almost prize the gift card from the CS woman's hands! She said I wasn't entitled to a gift card because it was a cashier error not a system overprice. I asked her what the difference was as I had still been overcharged by Asda. I asked politley with zero attitude but she launched straight into...."if you are DEMANDING a card I can give you a card". I explained I wasn't demanding anything but wanted an answer! She rang a manager who told her to give me a card. She gave me a card, with no apology and checked with another passing t/leader. I told her she was too late because I had it in my purse already!
I have emailed head office to winge about the cowbag on CS and to ask for clarification of the policy. I shall keep you posted!Trying hard...failing miserably

i used to have run-ins with asda cs over printable coupons. have given up on that one now (esp after they wouldn't accept my printed coupon that was actually advertised in their own magazine!!
like u guys, i have issues with them over the £2 giftcard policy.
my local store varies, depending on who is on the desk, what the item is, whether the day of the week has a 'y' in it etc:rotfl:
i hope they do read this as it shouldn't be a battle for the giftcard if that is their policy. they need to get their prices right as i am overcharged almost weekly (and funnily enough, pretty much NEVER undercharged).
i too have been overcharged on an item 2 weeks in a row - sometimes even after i have complained and had a giftcard the week before:eek:0 -
It is Asda policy to give a £2 gift card for an over charge, but they are suppose to only give one gift card per receipt, even if you have been overcharged more than once.
Sadly stores and customer service staff are reluctant to give them out, as they do effect the stores bonus, that is paid to managers and colleagues, but obviously not the only thing in the equation.
if you notice a wrong price, colleague should call another colleague, to confirm/check price, refund you the difference and £2 gift card. Sadly I have not seen an Asda store with a board behind CSD with policies on.
Sorry but you are wrong. It is not 1 card per receipt it is one card per overcharge. (who ever has informed you of this is incorrect).
It is important that you notice per overcharge. For example if you bought a multibuy 2 for £1.50 and you were charged £1.80 you would get one gift card. If you bought 4 (i.e 2 x 2 for £1.50) you would still only get one gift card as it is one gift card per overcharge.
However if you bought 2 for 1.50 and also bought something for £2.25 and were charged £2.50 you would get 2 x £2 gift cards as you were overcharge twice.0 -
Yesterday I got this Chuggington DVD http://www.amazon.co.uk/Chuggington-Chuggers-on-Safari-DVD/dp/B0033UX2Z4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1311188329&sr=8-2
SEL said £3.00, charged £4.00 so got my £1.00 back and the £2.00 voucher. They removed the SEL in my store but it may be out there in other stores.0
