Its their first PE lesson that fills me with dread because they are both liberally covered with bruises from head to toe. Someone is bound to pull them on one side and ask if everything is ok at home and whether theres anything they'd like to tell the teacher in confidence. I doubt the explanation that they were trying to build a tower of milk crates by climbing up them whilst suspended from a tree branch 35 feet in the air will go down too well (DD2 managed 13 before it fell over), nor that they fell off a tightrope which was connected to a Land Rover parked inside a disused grain silo or that later the same day they climbed to the top of that same grain silo.

Ho hum. I've lost count of the number of times I've been asked to explain things at school. DD1s 2" wide wibbly outlined birth mark was mistaken for a cigarette burn, then the same child told her teacher that mummy put soil on her cereals and made her eat it and it tasted disgusting, I'm not overly keen on soya milk either. DD2 had "more bruises than is normal for a child of her age" shortly after that they lost her on a school trip and after much searching spotted her up a tree, later the same day she disappeared again and was found up another tree returning to school with ripped trousers.

Huge progress has been made on the decluttering front much to the disgust of the neighbours. We've had a huge bonfire and burnt tons of rotten wood, old pallets and a whole stack of stuff destined for the tip that we never seemed to get round to taking there.

After much reorganisation I've even managed to get the sewing machine into the yarn cupboard. Seems the wool stash is going down slowly. Just have to resist the temptation to buy more. Haven't ventured out to the shed to see if the postie left a parcel there over the weekend. I don't think theres space to cram anything else in there.

The OH [STRIKE]is[/STRIKE] was finally enthusiastic about doing something. When we'd run out of things to burn he disappeared. Like a mug I finished off and cut the lawn, did some weeding, put away the giant paddling pool and then found him asleep on the sofa #*@*#!!!!!

Planning to assist DD1 in the concoction of some stewed rhubarb for her cookery lesson at school and then grab a shower to get rid of the smell of burning before veging for the remainder of the day.

Ugh. How did that happen? Its the end of the school hols already.... means returning to normality with a big fat bump. At least its payday on Friday which is just as well because I'm issuing a pile of cheques for a vast variety of things from school dinners (£5.25 per day for the two of them.... outrageous) to martial arts insurance and grading.

The DDs riding instructor has changed next weeks lesson to clash with the martial arts grading so they'll be missing lessons for the third week in a row. I'm getting horsey withdrawl. Still need to find a 34" dressage jacket for DD1s camp and pay the outstanding balance for that which means next months wage packet will be pretty much wiped out before the month has even started. I must think frugal thoughts. Have a horrible feeling a letter is also en route from school about DD2s residential trip which will require a deposit before the end of term and holiday club will want paying upfront for the summer holidays. Meh. Its going to be a very expensive month.

Need to chase up my boss about working as little as possible over the hols before he reminds me about the autumn Estyn inspection and the requirement to gut and redecorate the whole school during the summer. The holiday club have decided they want a cleaner five evenings a week. Will not be getting roped into that. Its an extra £10 per day before tax but it means going to work every evening which is most restrictive in terms of the things I can do with the demonic daughters over the hols. I'll end up doing some of it but theres no way I'm doing the lot.

Fingers crossed that we've had a couple of applications for the cleaning position over the weekend and one of them is unemployed and available immediately, otherwise I'm going to have a very long and sweaty evening at warp speed.

Hoping for a dry day in order to get lots of laundry done and a lot more gardening now its starting to look like a garden.

Rhubarb pie - must be Monday of last half term of school year:rotfl::rotfl:........my DD2 also needed stewed fruit for lesson today which she reminded me about last night about 10.30pm.....luckily we grow rhubarb I said as looking for torch pulling on wellies and coat over PJs for trip to bottom of garden. Rhubarb pie came home in one pirce and was marked as 'best in class' but then everybody else used tinned pie fillings..........DD2 teacher loves her ( according to DD21) cos she doesnt have to explain anything to her or ressurect disasters.................I do wonder where basic survival skills are all disappearing to:eek:

Even the most basic of basic skills seem to be absent. DD2 was the only child in her Cub pack that knew how to light a match. DD1s friends found it most odd that she knows how to use a BT phone box even though she has a mobile. Its quite scary just how little kids know.

Then again I felt like a bit of a dinosaur when I had to get a passing 6 year old to show me how to whoosh stuff on a tablet to make it big enough to type on..... whats wrong with a keyboard and a mouse and a screen you can read without needing a magnifying glass?

Geriatric rant of the day over..... for I have news. Apparently the shed is arriving tomorrow. Escuse me for not being overly excited at this. Will believe it if it happens.

Ended up doing ridiculous amounts of cleaning last night since there weren't any applicants for the cleaners job. On the brightside there are only 27 normal working days left until the end of term and at worst I'll get a serious amount of overtime which will help to cover the additional expenses which always seem to crop up over the summer.

The OH is spending money like its water and has bought a ridiculously expensive stereo for his shed. Its a !!!!!!! shed. Why does it need surround sound? and is going on and on and on about its layout and its this and its that and its the other to the point I'm sick to death of it. I couldn't care less how he does whatever he does providing all the tat thats in the house exits the house very very quickly because I'm sick of living in a dumping ground.

You do realise that it is going to come as a big SURPRISE to him, when you explain that all his carp from the house is going in the shed. I bet he thinks he is going to be able to buy stuff to fill that space AND leave stuff in the house.....:eek::eek::eek:
I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Fat chance of that. I arrived home to find it sitting on the drive yesterday evening :D . The whole it won't be unloaded until you've paid for it thing went out the window, not that it mattered because the vendors office was shut anyway. Will have to phone up and pay for it at some point today after the fraud investigation has been terminated otherwise the payment will bounce. Quite impressed how substantial it is, will take ages to build though and even longer to move it piece by piece to the furthest flung corner of the garden, thats assuming we can lift all the pieces, struggled to move the doors yesterday, they weigh a ton. Hoping they can be dismantled otherwise that could be an interesting experince. The OH is most chuffed that its here and equally miffed that today is the day that the big bosses are appearing for a meeting which means he'll be stuck at work for the entire day.

In far far far more exciting news my handbag kit finally arrived along with a whole heap of patterns which I'm itching to get started on. No prizes for guesing what I'll be doing today.
