OHs shed has four walls, windows, doors and roof supports. Managed to put the windows in upside down on our first attempt but toher than that and several dozen temper tantrums from the foreman its gone surprisingly well. Hoping to get the roof on and the floors down tomorrow.
The DDs are watching Ratatouille and OH went to bed straight after dinner so I'm having an evening of craftiness. I'll regret that at about 7:30 tomorrow morning when I'm ironing school trousers but I've had enough for today.
Martial arts exams went well. Think they've got one more to go before I have to fork out for padded body armour.
Had to top up DD1s phone, although shes doing pretty well and made a fiver last four months.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Having a !!!!!!! men moment. Admitedly its all my own fault but even so.... I've done far too good a job of training the OH which is why I'm currently wearing a bit of carrier bag lined with a folded travel tissue which is held in place with a bit of not really double sided sticky tape instead of my usual expensive girlie item with wings. Apparently these are marketed as Morrisons Saver range of girlie products but I suspect a two year old let loose on the nursery craft table could come up with something more functional. Am only glad that the request was for a very specific brand of girlie things with wings and not something that could be substituted by a few cotton wool balls attached to a bit of dental floss and stuffed inside a McDonalds straw.
Today will be starting with a visit to a shop, any shop, the instant one opens.
Rant over.

The shed has a roof! It took five hours to fit but its on there. Started creosoting it but ran out of time. Need to get the interior treated before the floor goes down which will take hours because each plank needs trimming. Have aranged to collect the stand for OHs new toy so that the floor can be reinforced in the appropriate places. Hoping by the end of the week the shed will be dry enough to fit roofing felt. Theres still a very big pile of timber to attach to it. Will be at least two weeks before the OH can start moving stuff into it.
Unsurprisingly housework has been minimal. OH did a mini shop yesterday after we ran out of bread and milk and carrots.
DD1 is making biscuits at school today. Rahter bemused by the request that she takes in her own baking tray, apparently school don't provide them.
Further plans for today involve a flying visit to the civilised world because the OHs driving licence photocard expires today. Means I can detour into the posh bookstore to peruse a couple of titles that I fancy to see if they're worth the money before I order them from Amazon.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Posh bookstore didn't have any of the books I wanted to peruse, still can't face paying Amazons prices, even the used and dropping to bits prices are far higher than I'd like. Will resist and add them to my Christmas wish list.
Shed is still progressing very very slowly. Its had two coats of creosote inside and out. It honks. Waiting for the roof to dry before we can felt that. Need a dry day to do it which means waiting until early next week. Hoping to start laying the flooring today now we've got the dimensions for the bits that need reinforcing.
Spent a very relaxed three hours at knitting group yesterday. Slurged and bought the needles I needed to make the bag and needles and a generous amount of 60% off yarn to make a hoodie.... I wasn't planning to but then I had a what the heck moment. Need to get some knitting out of the way because I'm drowning in a sea of part finished projects.
Going to spend the morning at a local craft festival, hoping to squeeze in a spinning workshop if there are any free places.
Life seems to be whizzing by in a whirlwind at the mo. Am so shattered at night that I've returned to drifting off on the sofa at 8:30pm. Need a few decent nights sleep to catch up on some sleep.
And finally I am 25 points away from cashing out with YouGov. Bet it takes another month to reach payout though.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Hi Moo - great news on the shed (we're having a purpose-built one that they're building, but we'll paint), and I'm 50 points from payout with YouGov. Really don't want to get sucked into another couple of years of dull surveys...Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0
