I don't bother when it is just a penny, doesn't seem worth it!

Cakelover - Dinah has gone to France

Ruby -don't envy you with the dissertation, they are horrific.

Just been to baby music class and then for a drink with other mums. Poppy fell asleep again, not sure she can cope with classes at half 1, think its her nap time!

    Hello all!

Hope you've been having a nice chatty afternoon. I'm SO looking forward to the weekend. My bro and SIL are coming to stay so I imagine there will be lots of eating, drinking and silliness (and no worrying about my bikini body, or lack thereof...!)

Your weekend sounds nice Birdie - I'd take offence at your OH's comments on baking :D but would be handy if he starts doing all the cooking, right?

Shrimpy I find the Hummingbird books pretty failsafe too. But I would keep a close eye on the quantities of baking powder and bicarb too. Also check they're not out of date as sometimes they do lose effectiveness. Is that a word? It's Friday afternoon...

Dinah's challenge has really spurred everyone on, hasn't it? Tete, I listed some books on Amazon the other day - just some books on literary theory from uni and it's super easy. I haven't got the patience (or the heart) to sell novels for 1p, but I think you can make money as Amazon give you £2.30 ish and postage shouldn't be that much.

Hi Cakelover and welcome back Ruby - nice to see you :)

Brilliant bag Tete! You should definitely save the £12 extra - what a nice little bonus! When are you off on hols?

Cinny, your bedroom is SO plush! I'm very tempted to splash out on some gorgeous squishy pillows and perhaps a new duvet too...:o

I'm finding it difficult at the moment because we're paying about £700 a month towards our debts - I can't help but think that I could go on a spending spree with a credit card and it would only add a month on to our DFD. I know it's completely the wrong attitude, but my resistance is down... :o

Eek, long post! Have brill weekends everyone :D

Bless her the excitement of it all is obviously just to much!

Did you know anyone before you went to the first baby group? I want to go to some once baby is here (mainly because midwife thinks it will help alot with my depression to get out and about) but one of the problems with my depression is I hate going into a group of people I dont know - find the whole idea very scary!

Nope didn't know anyone. Has been really good to meet people and everyone is in the same boat. I also go to a new mums group for babies up to 20 weeks run by surestart which is good. I am fairly shy but babies are a great ice breaker as you have something in common.

Poddle - sounds like you are doing fab with the debt , don't give into temptation with the credit card!!

Ooh thanks Shrimpy, tax is such a minefield isn't it. That advert where they say 'Tax doesn't need to be taxing' ...er yes it is!

Hi Cakelover! I'm a sucker for a romantic story so I hope you get your debt cleared :)

Have fun at Brimham Rocks Birdie, it's nice there, and these better be the best brownies you've ever tasted!

What's your diss on Ruby? It's such a good feeling to get it finished, keep on trucking

Thanks for the hummingbird tips ladies, I am a somewhat slapdash measurer so that may be it, although it wouldn't surprise me if the baking powder was out of date as I don't often use it and probably wouldn't think to check as it falls under the umbrella of 'cupboard stuff which lasts for ages'.

I have to make some cakes for work on Monday so will give it a go over the weekend again, wish me luck! Any recipe recommendations that are easy? Determined to make friends with the book so I can use it and not just drool over the pictures!

Right I've been very good and transferred the saved £12 to the challenge :) So that means Poddle - step away from the credit card!! Tho I know it must be tempting to splurge when you think of it that way.

Poor Poppy, I agree it must all be a bit overwhelming and wears her out! How are you feeling Flower? Hope you're ok.

Shrimpy my fave is the lemon loaf very tasty and pretty cheap and easy to make. I can't oiftem be faffed with cupcakes and their frosting, although I bought a new enormous nozzle the other week which I must try out soon.
