Hi cakelover & all, haven't quite caught up yet but wanted to add re. Amazon - I read this tip elsewhere on the site, make sure your item is equal to the cheapest already on sale, ie. if its on sale at £2.02, put yours at £2.02 as well not £2.01. Otherwise the other seller will see that they are no longer cheapest and change their price to £2.00 so you will drive each others prices down.
Hope that makes sense, it does seem to work too in my experience. Although you will always find people selling super cheap who MUST sell at a loss after postage, maybe they just don't realise..?

Tete - do you have any tips on the Hummingbird book? Everything I have made from it has been an unmitigated disaster
but usually my cakes turn out well. The only think I can think is that my scales aren't great, and maybe because of using plain flour and baking powder that matters more somehow...? I made the strawberry cheesecake ones and they were just mush!
Cinny - love the bed! I want new bedding now though! Our pillows are like scotch pancakes.
Dinah - too late I know but hope you have a lovely, relaxing holiday
Wendz - hope you get your washing machine sorted, such a pain when they go! (There is also a posh iron and return laundrette near me - and there's nothing posh about this town)
Archers - As long as your tax code is right I wouldn't worry, they could well be catching up your allowance for the year. Its something to do with whether your tax code is cumulative or not - sometimes they have W1 or M1 after them? I went on a HMRC course on it but unsurprisingly it baffled the pants off me!
CMD - glad to hear Max is feeling a little better now, hope is soon back to himself.

Oooh also on Amazon I price according to quality of product, all the stuff that I've sold I've classed as Used-Like New so although I might not have the lowest price on there I'm the lowest price for the quality IYKWIM. When I buy I like to get stuff that's like new so would rather spend £1.50 on a perfect condition book than 1p on a ratty ex library one so I assume that my buyers will be the same!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Thanks for the advice on the postage girls - I noticed they were all the same price so must be a set amount. Can anyone tell me the process then? Do you list your book and then get an email if it sells telling you where to send it? Does the money come from Amazon? When? How?
Good tip Shrimpy thanks! Wouldn't have thought of that! Don't have any Hummingbird tips really, they always just turn out nice for me? I know Mary Berry says you have to be careful with baking powder though - make sure you're not using heaped spoons as this will make the cakes sink when you take them out of the oven. Also don't over mix.
I love Brimham Rocks Birdie - have a good dayThanks for the tip about quality - mine are all like new - I've only looked at the pictures!
I have just been shoppingBought myself this overnight bag £30 down from £60 - I did have a bit of a tussle with myself but I loved it - then when I got to the till it was only £18 :money:
I should put the £12 saved into the Challenge shouldn't I?Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Lovely bag Tete! Where's that from? Excellent saving too!
Amazon is super easy, it has to be for me to get along with it! Just list your book and the condition (that's the word I was looking for before when I was rambling about quality!), set your price (it shows you the lowest and highest prices on the marketplace so you can make an educated guess) then they e-mail you when it sells, or you will see it when you login to your seller's account. You get an invoicey looking thing to print with the buyer's address and what they've bought (handy when you've sold lots in one go!) then when it's been posted update your account to say the item has posted. The money then moves into an interim account and you can either request payment straight away and it'll come into your account in a couple of days or they do a payment run every week/couple of weeks I think, not too sure!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Thanks for all the replies, you guys are really nice! I used Amazon a few years ago but for selling textbooks rather than the fiction type ones and smaller ones I have now so made quite a bit, but never had so many other people selling the same one.
Has Dinah gone anywhere nice?

You guys have just reminded me that I have whole pile of books that need listing on Amazon. Will probably get round to that...never at this rate!
I love the bed Cinny and purple walls! OH said I can be in control of decorating once we actually get a place together but "Nothing too girly like pink or purple right?" so we shall have to wait and see what happens.
I'm currently sitting in the library at uni, taking a break from the dissertaion. I'm about 2,000 words in with 8,000 to go and not really motivated to do it! As for weekend plans, meeting the OH for dinner in a couple of hours. Apparently we're going to some Cuban place in Camden. Not really feeling up to it because it's that time of the month (if you know what I mean) and I really didn't sleep last night because I was in so much pain! Don't think I could ever cope with childbirth after that!

I think Dinah used to sell a few for pennies in the old days didn't she? In her case it was every little helps and she had a lot to sell, I don't think I could be bothered just to make a bit of pocket money.
Bag is from House of Fraser Birdie, it's by Disaster Designs. Am in love, it's coming on the plane to France with me, filled with wool as long as I can take a crochet hook through security, must look it up!
Hope you feel better soon Ruby, keep plugging at the dissertation it'll soon come together. enjoy your Cuban food - "que aproveche"!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0
