Another £17.50 paid off - money through from ebay sales. I feel really good to be back in the debt busting groove again. Have cancelled the charity direct debits as so many suggested, and some £1 trial magazine direct debits that I don't want to go to full price, looking forward to sorting out our July budget, hoping it should be a lot more positive although its a hard one with being away for so long. I'm thinking if we try to just have £50 for food/toiletries for the 2 weeks we're here between holidays? We have lots of meat in the freezer but won't even have basic fruit and veg, but we can have a few soup/things on toast nights. I'm thinking for petrol we'll need to still allocate the full £400 - £250 or so to get us to and from Dover, and the other £150 for the fortnight in between.
    Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81
    Debt September 20th 2022 £2991.68- 96.92% paid off

I think your friend's small wedding sounds perfect Birdie. I hate people that think life is all about how much money you have.
Thinking about it but my heart's not really in it :o Sometimes you just need to jump in though don't you?

Only when you're ready.. :) I need a hug thing like Cinny has.

I love that feeling. Glad you're back into it! Did my ticker code work? Not sure if I sent you the right one.

ETA: That is so sweet of your Grandad, Dinah. I hate the thought of family members not being around though. Soon me and my Nan are making a photobook of all the old pictures and adding captions so myself and future generations know the stories behind the pictures.

Also, I am so jealous Birdie that you're going to Harry Potter World! I'd be buying everything and anything!

You may well have done - I'm going to look at it when I get home as people might realise I'm not on a planning website if there are pictures of piggybanks chasing money and the like on my screen!

Hmm, seems we're not having the work guilts this afternoon! I've been chucking loads of archived stuff - ALL MY HARD WORK from the last four years going in the big shredder! Makes you wonder what the point was in the first place!

Aww your poor grandad Dinah, why does he think he's not going to be around? My grandma has a trust fund for her dog - she's convinced he'll outlive her and has money set aside to pay for food and vets etc for whoever takes him!

Birdie can't believe the price of a toy broom - presumably it doesn't ACTUALLY fly? I second NIM's suggestion of a practice one!

That's so nice what you're doing with your Nan Zig, that's something that's on my 101 lst. If granny had it her way she'd chuck the lot though - old people are RUTHLESS!

Shh, don't listen to her Shrimpy. She's just upset because she's turning into NIM, that's all. She's not thinking straight.

I'd love to do something like that too. Me and my Sister have started asking them questions, like how did they fall in love. My Grandad's response was 'She was always in my bloody kitchen.' (My Nan went to school with his younger Sister and would go there for Breakfast) Looks like romance has been dead for some time!

I've been chucking out uni work and feel the same way! All those sleepless nights..

Aww, your grandma is very organised, Tete!

Haha, yeah they are! I hate the thought of all these old stories being lost though. I want them to do like a memory journal too but I don't think they will.

I bought a really good diary thing the other day. It's called Q&A a day and it has a question for each day, and 5 spaces. You fill it in every day for 5 years and see how your answers change. Not up everyone's street but I love that kind of thing.

I love the look of that Diary Zig! Don't like the idea of starting half way through the year, will have to get it and put it away for Jan 1st :)

I'm only telling OH magic's not real because he's a muggle... got to keep the secret! ;)

I love the thought of Grannie's Doggy Trust Fund, that's really cute. I love how organised old people are.

Got a surprise in the post, I applied for a Barclaycard last Thursday (I think?!) and got a message saying that they'd let me know which I assumed was Bad News, never got an e-mail saying yes or no but a brand spanking new credit card with a £5000 limit arrived today! Balance transfer ahoy! :D

    Phew!

Good news on the Barclaycard! Paying interest is rubbish. When do you go to Disneyland? V jealous...

It took me ages to get that Diagon Alley was a play on words :o

My nan isn't the sentimental sort either, she's the only living grandparent I have and I'm sure she'll outlive us all! We had a party for her 90th last year and she wanted to give a thank you speech which turned out to revolve around jokes about strippers and pole dancers! She's one of those stereotypical oldies who says exactly what she thinks and doesn't give a hoot for the consequences.

Time to move some money around and get the ticker moving...

Shrimpy - sounds just like my Grandma. The things she says sometimes are slightly embarassing! She did tell me she had waited all her life to be a great Grandma, like that is the sort of ambition people have as a child lol.

Yay for the card Birdie, should save you some dosh on interest!
