Hi girls, thanks for all your input on the phone debate! I think I will go for the deal I mentioned - I quite prefer the shape of the 3GS to the 4, and if the difference in features is negligible (have I spelt that right?, think it's the first time I've ever written it down!) (especially to a techno-dinosaur like me) then I shouldn't regret it. Also it's about a million steps forward from my Nokia which calls and texts and takes photos and has a (gasp!) calculator
I'm going to go for it soon rather than wait for the 5 I think in case they take the 3GS off the market and only offer the 4, for more than I want to pay, if that makes any sense!
I have never heard of this 25% offer, how is that?! I do have a couple of friends who work in those professions but no-one I could really ask to do that without it being really cheeky haha
Sorry I've been quiet, things have been so hectic but hopefully should calm down by the middle of the week. I did two runs this weekend, are you proud of me? 5k yesterday (only the second time I've done it non-stop and was 33s faster than last time) and 10k today - first time I've done that distance non-stop, and I didn't actualy find it toooooo hard going! Hurrah! Great North Run in 2 weeks, feeling a lot better about it now I have to say! Well enjoy the rest of the weekend, I'm off to watch corrie x

Well done on all the running this weekend Tete, that's brilliant! I'm very proud of you! The GNR will be a breeze, hope you get to high-five Ant or Dec!
The wedding venue looks lovely Ruby, very swish as Wendz said!
Nice to know you're still around just busy Dippy!
We had a fairly quiet weekend, OH played rugby on Saturday whilst I stayed in making cards and watching The Big C (which is very good!), later we watched Dr Who and a movie after giving up on the X Factor as our aerial was playing up so it kept cutting out every time someone started singing! Annoying! Yesterday my parents popped through with OH's birthday card (with $50 spendies, hurrah!) and gave us a cheque for £500! :j I did tell her that she'd said it'd be $500 but she said, 'Ahhh, I want you have a brilliant time, what's a bit extra (about $280!)?!' I love my Mum's idea of a wedding present! :j Super excited, we've got loads of spending money now (by our standards at least), although OH did beg me yesterday to at least wait until the end of the holiday before hitting the mall and spending the lot!
The 2 empty flats in our block got filled by noobs over the weekend, and at least one of them is a smoker; the hallway already stinks (after 1 night!!) and every so often our living room fills with the stink of smoke if we've got our windows open. Delighful! Going to buy an air wick plug in thingy and stick it in the hall so at least I don't have to smell nasty cigarettes every time I open my door!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Well done on the running Tete! You are doing great with all the runs you have done.
Birdie - that would have drove me mad with the x factor. I had to watch it online as OH was playing fifa with his best mate online on the tv and kept cutting out. Yay for the money though, bless her! You will have an amazing time and so good you can treat yourselves and not worry about money.
Pretty boring weekend here.OH is off work today so think we are going to take Poppy swimming this afternoon.0 -
Tinkerbel - I hope the whole LDR ends soon too. For the first 3 months we were together, we lived practically round the corner from each other. It's just the other 5 years we've lived apart!
Finally finished my round of night shifts for the time being. Need to sleep but can't seem to switch off. Hope you all enjoy the start of your week and good luck to the parents sending their kids back to school. Hope you manage to get some sleep soon Ruby.
My Mum works in a school ( my old secondary) so she is depressed to be back too.0 -
Oooo Ruby that venue looks gorgeous!! Very nice indeed.
Tete - well done with your runs, can't believe GNR is so close.
Well I had quite a boring weekend. Saturday we worked in the day as we both have deadlines and then we went to the cinema to watch The Guard (which was very funny). We went to Ping Pong for dinner, I am not a massive fan of dim sum but I knew OH wanted to go. Then that night I got really sickSo Sunday I was supposed to go to Ikea but I just chilled out in the house. I cleaned out the dreaded under-stairs cupboard and made a larder in there (have also been reading this OS getting ready for Winter thread :rotfl:)

All of my teacher friends were having a good moan last night/this morning on FB about being back at work, it's quite annoying actually, what about us poor sods who work all year and we're only ever allowed 2 weeks (3 if we're lucky!) off at a time- and only 5-6 weeks holiday a year! Summer (what little excuse there was of it) has once again passed me by as I've been stuck in the office nearly every time the sun's been out! Was wearing a summery dress yesterday (with a cardy and big fluffy slippers!) and thinking that it's probably going to be the last outing of the year for it!
I wouldn't mind if I had a nice autumn/winter wardrobe but alas, I do not, and what little I did have I had to get rid of as it was embarassingly past its best!
ETA: Hope you're feeling better now Lara, how awful about getting sick! Is the winter thread a guilty secret for all of us?! I want to turn our hall cupboard into a larder too but there's no point stocking up with OH in the house, he'll just use it all as soon as he finds it!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary.
