I'd suggest getting a copy of your credit files to see if anything wrong is showing up on there. And stop applying for credit as you are only making the situation worse at the moment

i've checked my credit file and it's absolutely fine. had no problems getting a barclaycard in sept or an o/d with A&L week before last. everyone else seems to have no probs getting the card so a little bemused as to why i've been rejected. :(

I did an Experian report thing a few months ago and everything was fine (im on the electrol roll etc)

I have debt, but not as much as other people I know who seem to get credit easy peasy! Its just frustrating! :wall:

Hi Krayzechick it definitely is frustrating! I know from you other post as well that you've done experian checks but you can have different information held by different credit reference agencies - what experian has may well be different to what equifax and callcredit have. This is why you really must check all three before you can be entirely sure there's not a problem in your credit file. I would urge you to do this asap just to be sure.

I agree with others though that your recent rejections may well be stemming from a snowball effect - you get rejected for one and apply for the second one too quickly so they see the first rejection and reject you because of that and the same again for the third and the fourth. I would echo what pault123 says - do not apply for any more credit for at least 6 months and make sure you're up to date with everything in the meantime. I know it's annoying being stuck on high rates but if you just keep applying you'll just keep getting rejected and you'll end up in a much worse situation re your credit file. Good luck.

What number are you phoning up on for a BT, I don't want to get the indian call centre.

I called the number on the sticker that was on my card:
    0800 0150 0445

It said to call this number to activate my card, and when I did, the guy asked me if I also wanted to do a BT.

    still awaiting my card.... boohoo.....
  • Does anyone know whether the M&S card will allow you to have a second user on the account? I currently have a Tesco card & my partner has a card in his name on my account, so all monies spent using both cards is put through to the account which is in my name only. Clear as mud?

I want to know as my partner currerntly puts his substantial work expenses on the card & I want to maximise the interest we could make on saving the money during the 12 months 0% period. My credit rate is excellent whereas his is not great, but getting better!

    Thanks

i am thinking about it - they said i just didnt have a good enough 'credit score'. but the thing is i have never missed any payments / gone over my limit etc. i have a good income, and they asked for mine and hubby's joint income which is really good (our debt / income ratio is approx 50% - not great but also not that bad). i applied for an extension to a loan in april 06, a barclaycard in sept 06, an A&L account 3 weeks ago and thats it - not been turned down for anything else either.

Yes you can have a second user on the account. Just phone up and ask. The main cardholder is responsible for all transactions on the account and is the only one who can phone up and activate the card once it arrives.
