    Hi everyone,

I take it you can't apply for this new life of balance &more card if you've already got an &more card?? I'm also guessing M&S isn't allowing anyone to transfer onto it from an old &more card?? My mum has an old card she's had for years with over £10k of a limit so it would be great if she could get that £10k at 3.9% for life of the balance considering she has over £10k of credit card debt (currently on 0% but it's not easy to keep shuffling it around and I'm sure her luck with getting high enough credit limits will run out soon.) I'm assuming to get it she'd have to close her current &more card and reapply - is there an amount of time which she'd have to wait after closing it to reapplying though (I know some places don't allow you to reapply right away)? Also if she does this there's no guarantee she'd get the £10k limit back on the new card. It might be worth a go though - I was just wondering how other MSEers who already had the &More card and wanted to get the new one have got on. Thanks for any advice.

    Regards

    Michelle

 Ive just b/transfer 3000 from egg and when i spoke to m & s customer services the only option is minimum pay or full payment on direct debit is it best to just make a standing order for say £20 extra to be paid into off m &s card each month so not just paying min payment. Thanks anyone for some help on this.
I'd recommend setting up a minimum payment DD, and then make additional payments each month by SO.

    Correct on both counts.

My wife successfully re-applied after 3 months last year, although the limit given was only around 60% of her previous limit.
Also if she does this there's no guarantee she'd get the £10k limit back on the new card.
A poster on the stoozing site closed his £15K M&S card last year, and on recently re-applying was only given £1.5K.

One final thing, M&S have been known to offer deals to stay if you call to close the account. The best my wife got was 9.9%, although many people have reported 0% for 6 months. Might buy her some time?

    Hi YorkshireBoy,
    Correct on both counts.

Thought as much - worth checking though!

Whoa - they saw him coming then! That's what worries me about potentally closing it down.

I've already managed to get 2 x 0% for 6 months deals out of them the last one about a year ago :D . I've phoned up 2 or 3 times over the last 6 months to see what they've got to offer as I've seen others on here still getting offered 0% deals but the best they've offered was around 6.9% I think  So I think they've maybe blacklisted her from those offers now - I think perhaps the reason they gave her 2 0% deals in the first place is because they'd made so much out of her previously and thought they could hook her back in again. Before I got hold of her debts she had been sitting with a high balance on the M&S card spending on it and balance transferring to it and paying the massive rate so I think they've done pretty well out of her over the years  As an MSEer I was horrified! I've now got all her CC debt on 0% deals (BT's at Capital One til Sept and spending on Sainsbury's til June) so I've got a while before I need to switch things around again - I just thought that the 3.9% deal would be perfect for her to pay off her debts without having to get any more credit searches as she's had a lot over the last year with re-mortgaging and other things and I might be pushing it by applying her for more credit cards later in the year. I'll have a good think about it though as the £10k limit could be handy at some point and I wouldn't want her to lose it completely. Thanks for the answers Y-boy!

    Regards
