Do you know what. I think I'm just going to accept this offer. It's only £60 less and I'm £200 better off than I was last week.
Thanks for your advice - just MBNA TO GO NOW!0 -
I've received all my statements tonight and have worked out that with the 8% interest, Egg owe me a little under £350. It's quite a healthy sum given that it's about a quarter of the remaining balance of the card so anything I can do to get this back will make quite a difference to my financial situation.
Will keep everyone updated until hopefully I get my money back! I'm particularly determined after asking them nicely to put me onto the standard APR of 16.9% rather than the 21.9% I'm on at the moment and getting the knock back. So, they've annoyed me.
I will also be asking for the PPI premiums back on this account as I had only just started a new job when I took out and was ineligible for any claims, also spent quite a considerable period of time as a self-employed consultant during which time I would have been ineligble for cover. I only found this out recently.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
Hi Guys
I'm a newbie to this forum (though have been on the PPI reclaiming a few times). Just thought I'd let you know my experiences with credit card reclaiming.
Back in January I reclaimed approx £1200 from MBNA- sent off the standard template first letter with my charges - they offered me just over £900 - :j which I accepted.I needed the cash and thought a bird in the hand etc etc
My OH recently claimed from Egg for Credit card charges.Of course they sent the usual - go away you accepted our T&Cs letter - so he went to the FO which to cut a long story short-upheld the claim and he received £931 (the whole amount) :j
I am now in the the process of reclaiming my egg and additional MBNA cc charges- so hopefully they'll turn out good too0 -
Just wanted to add (as per my sig) I got all my charges back bar the interest. I've decided to accept his offer as quite frankly I can do with the cash right now, without waiting another week or so (or more) to push them to repay it all. I'm happy enough
I'm just waiting for my MBNA claim reply.
Elastimum - how many letters did you have to exchange with MBNA before they paid out? I've sent the one summing up my charges and asking for them back, and they've said they're thinking about it and will reply before 18th Nov... Just wondering if I should expect a fight, or if they'll repay fairly willingly.0 -
Hi SillyMe
I just sent the one letter to MBNA with the charges and the interest calculations. Like that, I expected to have to wait and then be rejected-but fortunately they came up trumps and refunded what was owed(well almost)!0 -
Oooh blimey. Fingers and legs crossed then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0

Just received a load of statements from Egg this morning- and from a total of 53 pages of statements I have only £100 of charges( 5 charges of £20 -I obviously was a lot more careful in the past) but along with the interest it comes to £143. So I suppose I may as well claim it back. Letter will be in the post today and, fingers crossed, I may have the cash by Christmas!0

Got exactly the same thing myself yesterday - letter two on it's way!Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -

The overlimit charges are imposed as soon as your account goes over your agreed credit limit, which is automatically carried out by our systems. It doesn't assess accounts on an individual basis and applies the charge whenever the limit is exceeded.
Therefore I'm able to confirm that the charges on your Egg Card are correct and I'm unable to offer you a refund for them
The overlimit fee is stated in our terms and conditions under '7.1 Charges'. You can view these online by copy and pasting the following link.
new.egg.com/visitor/0,,3_11087--View_1068,00.html
It also states in the frequently asked questions on the website, a ?16 charge will occur:
If you don't keep up with your payments.
If you go over your credit limit.
If a payment is returned due to lack of funds.
Thanks for your message.
