I was on a programme too. I started the new one last week after finishing the previos one 3 months ago.
The new ones found me a job straight away. I applied for it last Wednesday got an interview on Thursday and started work today.
Although I didnt have a very good first day :(

I had agreed with the employer to work 30 hours a week. Yesterday she phoned me to let me know I start work tomorrow (today) at 9AM, Which was fine, today I woke up to get ready and she phones me saying I have to start at 8ish which was basicly at 7.45 ( takes me 20 minutes to walk there which she knows.)
I said Im getting ready and will be there soon as I can she said 8.30 please!
I got dressed and went running (without having breakfast) and got there 8.35. Finished at 5.30
I had an hours lunch break. I worked for 8 hours that makes 40 hours a week I had agreed 30. Feel like im being walked all over as shes making the rules as she goes.
I dont really want to say anything as Ive only just started and have been out of work for a while but im a bit stressed about this. Shes told me to come in at 8 tomorrow. ( in the interview she said 9-3 ) And told me to wear a short dress with stockings not trousers . Any advice please ? :(
unbelievable. So this "employer messes you about at short notice over start times so she is either deliberately treating you like carp or she lied to you at interview. And what the hell is this with stockings and a short dress. Are they expecting you to dress like a tart just to keep your job now (im definately not calling you a tart by the way) What is this new work programme called, Pimp My Job!!!!!

I think she lied to me. :(
The job was stock contol, but I'll be working on the shop floor tomorrow.
In the interview she asked me what my expected sallary was and I said the NMW (national minimum wage)
which I now realise I was wrong to say as a friend just told me that the job is harder then the shop floor assistants job and I should be getting paid more. (not sure what im going to get paid yet)
She calls the other workers "sexy" and wants me to dress like that too which I dont want to :(

I was put on some work experience last year, whilst at the
"sales assistants work experience" I was asked to do 2 hours cleaning every morning,
I told my personal advisor about that and she just said that " I use to work at an office before this job and I did cleaning too!" You have to do everything your told to do, this includes cleaning dusting replenishing stock etc etc. They didnt provide me with my travel fare and lied saying I would be paid a bit extra for work experience Which I wasnt!

I dont mind working on the shop floor, or any other duties, but that fact im being messed around and have been lied about the hours and not been even told what my pay is and am expected to wear a short dress is making me sick thinking about it :(

I would not wear a short dress - FACT

I would also have not signed anything till it stated what the salary was in the contract!

Sarah please go back to your provider and talk to them about this. If they try to fob you off then you could print off this thread and show it to them. Explain that you were lied too and this is NOT the job you applied for. Bear in mind that the provider may well only be interested in getting their payment /commision for you to stay there which is why i suggested showing the provider this thread and tell them about this "dress code" Which high street store is this by the way? Dont say if you dont want to. I dont want you to get into trouble.

I was worried that if maximus arranged the job, and it gets back to them that I refused a job I would lose my JSA, I keapt getting told I should be ready and willing to accept any job whilst im sighning on. :(
