is this right going from New deal to work programme

I started on the Flexible New Deal about a year ago and was told i would be on it for a year. Now my advisor has just phoned me and said i am going to the work programme now and will be seeing a new advisor and changed my appointment?

Is this correct? Dont the jobcentre have to direct you to this?

FND is being replaced, so you will be put on the new programme.

I'm guessing the new advisor is in hope they can push you to actually finding some work.

  • Yep, I have heard of a few people going straight from one to the other.

You will probably find that the same agency responsible for New Deal is the same provider responsible for the Work Programme. I know that is the case in our area.

They seem to be putting everyone on the Work Programme as quickly as possible at the moment.
Sometimes it seems that just when I think I have reached rock bottom, someone hands me a shovel.

My FND has stopped but also the provider has lost the contract so i am now waiting for another provider and i need the jobcentre to provide me with that.

I heard there is nothing this work programme will do than make everyones life hell so much so that they will choose to work because it is better than doing the work programme!

Do you have something better to do? Lots of people in work have to go from "one thing to another" without a break. If you have been on one scheme and it didn't provide sufficient skills or incentive for you to have obtained employment, it obviously hasn't worked.

Ask them to put it in writing and get it signed by them.
