If you haven't completed 12 months with the FND provider you will go straight to work programme. If you have completed the 12 mnths then you will be referred to work programme 3 mnths from the completion date of FND.
All people remain with the work programme for 104 weeks. Even if you find work they will continue to track you. Any time during the 104 weeks to return to benefit you will return to the work programme.
The providers only get any financial return when you have completed 26 weeks continuous employment, they then continue to receive a small fee for every week past the 26 weeks up to the 104 weeks.

FND is a complete waste of money. These private companies who run these "schemes" are just parasites.

Ive just found this thread after posting a new one. I was told that you can be on the WP for 2 years??. After reading this thread it is now pretty clear why my volunteering work in other areas is being disregarded so that can be shoved on the work programme to provide money for the Prime contractors.
:D Advice freely given is rarely taken except on MSE:cool: Dont shoot the messenger:)

At the end of the day voluntary work isn't paid and the role of the work programme is to get you into paid employment ASAP.

The majority of people being referred to the work programme have been unemployed for at least 9 months.
  • All the people I know who have been forced to go on these schemes say that they were a complete and utter waste of time. Some people said that were made to make paper planes, send off for jobs that they didnt have skills or experience for and look at the same papers day in day out.
A few people end up then applying for the sick instead. The problem is that there are not enough jobs and theres not enough proper training to help those out of work access it.
Instead of these schemes that the majority of people think are useless the Government should provide quality training/apprenticeships to help those out of work. These should be accessable to all ages.
I think voluntary work would be more well regarded by an employer than a work programme.I know a lot of people who have got jobs through voluntary work but none through a work programme.

i checked at the jc and yes i will go straight from FND to Work Prog. Everyone will be referred in September apparantely.

I agree with the poster who said the provider will be useless and the schemes dont work.

How can everyone be referred in September? There are certain cut-off points for each age group the last time I checked the Work Programme's structure. For 18-24 it's after 9 months of initial claim and 25 years+ is probably after 12 months unless the government decided the JCP is utterly useless at helping people within 6 months of their claim and that private companies should take over as soon as possible.

I started on the Flexible New Deal about a year ago and was told i would be on it for a year. Now my advisor has just phoned me and said i am going to the work programme now and will be seeing a new advisor and changed my appointment?

Is this correct? Dont the jobcentre have to direct you to this?
i would enquire at the jobcentre. i got told at the jobcentre that even the very long term unemployed have a 3 month wait before being put on it.

if people go straight onto it coz they are currently on fnd do they start from day one or for example if they have done 10 months on fnd would they only have 14 months left to do?
if i found work and they tried to track me i would tell them to f*** off and mind their own business. well i would like to do that. i would actually just ignore them if i was working and they contacted me for an update.
