from what you've said it sounds like he is the one who is racist - racism works all ways!
sounds like he is also very blind to his own faults eg it was always the girl's fault.

That would be it for me. Gut instinct, if you don't like it now you're a) Not going to like it any more in a year and b) Not going to be able to change his attitude.
You've given him 5 weeks, it's obviously not going to work so my advice would be to move on now.
