I have no idea what outlandish statements you think I made but I guess that you wanted the info you wanted and that was all she wrote.
I am going to guess that you have not writen and complained to the water company so really that should have been your first port of call but it would seem you wanted people to be as outraged by your case as you are and that is all that matters.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;

'I really can't see them being interested as this is hardly national news..It's not like anyone is dying or it is a mass problem, one person has paid £4k for the last couple of years...which if nothing else proves that they could afford to pay it as if I got a bill like that I would be in court for non payment.
So the question I would ask if I read this in the paper was : Why on earth did someone wait this long and why on earth should I care that they had a massive bill they could afford to pay when there are oap's out there that make a choice between heat and food..'
thanks for that... not very helpfull and rather judgemental I would suggest. hardly, I was talking about what I would think if I read it in the NOTW etc..I offered plenty of help before this post and after I just don't think running to the press BEFORE dealing with the right people is worth it and it makes real stories look cheaper.
For your interest I have been looking for any leaks and arguing with them for 4 years. Its taken that long to get the flow meter installed.
I have asked already abou written complaints etc and OFWAT, CCW but you never replied..Maybe you should have gone down that route first
The reason I pay is that I cant afford to go to court as failing to pay a lawful debt is a sacking offence in my proffession. But clearly you could afford to pay..I couldn't at all and you say the debt it incorret so surely it would be worth the day in court before a judge to get it sorted out ?
But hey ho who cares... obviously not you and I shall carry on paying shall I? I asked for help not stupid judgemental claptrap You got help more then once and I and others asked question that might have helped but rather then reply you carried on ranting..
Oh I missed this one, so that is what got your panties in a bunch .Over reacting muchly.
This was not a reply to you at all and I don't think the papers would be interested as it is hardly national news now is it ? Good grief if everyone went running to the papers all the time no one would bother reading them.
So because I said going to the papers before trying all the other options you think I was not helping and supplying " stupid judgemental claptrap" ??
I still have no idea why after 4 whole years you have not gone to CCW and OFWAT but clearly you know best.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;

Standard average consumption varies (and I will check our numbers) but off the top of my head its 145 litres per head per day. So two people should use 290 litres in one day. Not 14,000.
Current usage figures are 180 litres / head / day, so total would be 360 litres in one 24 hour period.0 -

I think I have answered previously that I dont value your views much anymore... its quite obvious to me that you rather relish sitting on your high horse judging everyone else. im not really interested in what your views are in what the papers would be interested in and if I was I would ask for them. Im also not very interested in your views about why I should allow myself to be pursued by debt collecters , get defaults against my name and risk a day in court and my job. If you cant say where this water is going then what makes you think a judge would back me.
as for 'getting my panties in a bunch'... I have no idea how you entertain yourself in the evenings but I dont where panties rather favouring some rather natty boxers shorts.
I didnt start this arguement you did with assuming that fear or reprisal is the same as throwing money around with gay abandon.... for your intrest I cant afford it either but have done so by sacrificing savings , not having familly holidays and even a honeymoon due to my high monthly outgoings.
I assume I have answered most questions...but for those who wish to help and not just get their !!! kisssded for deigning to bless us with their views on newspapers etc........
just to re-affirm...
1. the meter is on the pavement outside the property
2. its mechanical
3. the flow meter installed was installed firstly for 2 weeks...showing average consumption then for 1 month and showed average consumption except for a period of 12 hrs (E&S confirmed it was not 24hrs to me today) when 14000 lts went through the meter. Thats 250 odd gallons an hour....
4. I have complained constantly to the company and been passed from pillar to post. the only way I got the flow meter fitted was by grabbing the guy who came to read the meter last time and pleading with him. I have written to ofwat 20months ago and they stated they would not launch an enq until the water company had completed their investigation. Their investigation consisted of passing me from one dpt to another to get the same advice of 'check for leaks'...'monitor the meter'..etc.....they have not completed the investigation to this date.0 -
Can you ask and have the water meter removed?0
-
the water company called today. they are suspending the account for the time being and installing another flow meter. They confirmed that the spike was 12hrs in which time 14000lt passed.
they still sound like they believe that we have used the water but have agreed that it is possible that something is up. They will be talking to anglian water about the pumping station and also installing a 'black box'... didnt quite get that bit?0 -
I dont know if you can get the meter removed. I did say to them that if you cannot be sure it is just measuring my consumption then surely the default position is removing it and returning the house to rates... when I asked they went quiet and moved on to something else. I know you cant just demand removal of the meter to save money but I dont know what the leagl position is regarding a dispute over accurate measuring of consumption... and as I say they werent very forthcoming with an answer. Does anyone know?0

The rules are set by OFWAT (and may depend on which authority you are with):
You can only "legally" go back to rateable value if you've had it installed in the last 13 months. Any other situation would be a good will gesture.
They don't actually remove the meter in any event.0 -

as I know the truth my views are this.......
1. someone has stolen my water.... not very likely as that would be 3000 odd gallons and they would need a tanker.. pretty sure I would have heard that.....
2. we have a leak... ruled out by the water company already...
3. we have taken the water... not true ...and even if i did what would be the point?... why would i fill a tank in my garden just for it to go stagnant while i continue paying for it all year?
4. there is someone else on our grid... sounds very possible.. .. they would have to be filling a tank irregularly/flushing a system or the consumption would be continous and not in a spike... also how can you prove it......
5. water meter broken?.... unlikely as it shows that the water has gone thru along with the flow meter.......
6. there is a leak where the meter has been put in.... but why would it only leak for 12 hrs then stop?.....
lets be frank about the amount used.... 14000 lts is half the volume of an 18ft swimming pool....
3000 odd gallons.... in 12hrs........0
