The DigitalDirect site is the same company as SoundAndVision... I think they have a baseline price without delivery to make them look cheaper than they really are. The Sound&Vision site includes delivery e.g.

I am fighting this temptation and im sure the girlfriend would be most upset if i spent my savings ("where's my engagement ring?"). How do the Freeview channels look on this TV ? and what is currently the best price WITH the Panny cabinet ?

Freeview channels are very good. From what I have read they are possibly the best in a plasma - expect when you get a purple snake. Ooops. There I go again.

Why would you even try?? JL only match bricks and mortar shops with the price displayed on the set.

Okay, made the mistake of reading Avforums loooong thread about purple snakes and its put me off a bit.

Having said has anyone managed to get John Lewis to price match this tv to Empire Direct.

JL should match Empire Direct stores. The problem you may find is that I think this model is on its way out and by the time you have a price match JL may not have any stock.

Despite the purple snakes this is a great set. Without the snakes this would be definitely the best set around for the money. I am really hoping that Panasonic will sort the snakes out for customers such as myself who are not into keeping unwanted pets.

I know JL give a 5 year warranty... but they don't price match internet companies - so why would you waste your time trying to get them to price match one? On the hope they don't realise they don't have a shop?
