I wonder if this is why the price has plummeted on this set?
The previous set the PV500 is still rather expensive and I never heard of the purple snakes problem with that one.
Is this problem specific to the 42" or on the 37" as well.

I think theres been problems found with the 37" and 42" and the pv500.

Newer modles have been released hence the price drop, only diffence is a SD card slot and about £500 !

Just noticed that Dixons are selling these for £879.99 or £1019.99 with cabinet.

Bought mine on the 29th from Currys so should be able to get them to price match the difference.

Very please with the TV so far though and not noticed any purple snakes.

JL phoned to say my TH42PX60 CAB is in stock. I am picking it up Thurs don't want to wait until next Thurs for delivery. Will let you know if I get any "extras" of the reptile variety.

The purple snake problem - is there a way of identifying which px60 are affected - like a serial number? Just a thought

They have started a thread on https://www.avforums.net not sure if they've noticed any pattern. Still undecided as to whether to buy one.

Did they price match Digital Direct?
I have asked them and they said it might be 3 days before they get back to me. If I know that they have done it for you perhaps I could quote that.
