maybe, due to the high salt diet, she has just retained water so a few days of drinking lots of water and she will be back to the same size as before.

Well I gained 9lb in 2 days of eating crap! I lost 6lb of it within 2 days of being back on my ww plan. Will see this coming Saturday how I have done in total.. So it IS possible to gain a lot of weight.

I grew up being over weight, and depressed because of it, I was forced to finish all my dinner (adult sized portions) as It got drilled into me about those poor kids in africa. Or that chicken/cow/bean/carrot died for me.

Please don't be so harsh on her about fitting into that dress, I think that is just wrong.

Just make sure she is eating her 5 a day and 3 sensible portions of her meals, and snack on fruit/veg/dairy dunkers, but allow her a treat. Curly wurly are very low and devine. And yes exercise is good too, but going to the gym is a little to much IMO, cycling, walking and bouncing on the trampoline is what kids should be doing these days.

maybe the poor girl was so fed up hearing about the dress before she went to stay with her dad and the overeating was a means of getting out of wearing it. she may have such a poor self image that she doesn't want to be on public display. and I almost feel the dress was perhaps bought a bit on the small side so her mother (the ex-anorexic) could make a point - what was her true dress size when it was bought?

    She's a size 10-12? Is that it?!

My daughter is 13, 5'4 and is a size 12. She's not fat or overweight at all.

If the dress doesn't fit, so what, get another! Don't make her feel bad about herself, she's a teenage girl and the last thing you want is to give her a complexion over her weight.

come on not that im saying the food offered was great but would she really put that much weight on in four days and it sounds like youre being very harsh on her shes 14 you could tip her two ways 1 shell binge eat from the stress or 2 shell starve herself and either way end up in a worse situation

14 is a really delicate age for weight. I was "fat" at 14 and my parents make jokey comments about my weight and it really badly affected me, i pretty much ended up starving myself. Encourage her to be healthier by all means but don't make it all about fitting into some dress.

good advice! you'd be surprised how comments affect teenage girls, and putting too much emphasis on this dress could have the effect of making her feeling very pressured into losing weight.
