Yeah, this thread is really not what i intended now its turned into a discussion about dog care! for everyones info i work 12-6 and OH works 8-4 so the dog has 4 hours in which MIL comes round to take him out.
Anyway back to the original reason for this thread...
He leaves me on the Friday night and comes back on the sunday night, i go out with friends etc and sometimes if there is overtime i work the weekends, he has said the weekends will stop we have planned to go out this Friday so he wont be staying that night.

Stopping the weekends is progress. As the dogs are only left for 4 hours (which most posters seem to think is an acceptable length of time), this makes the daily visits to walk them unnecessary. Therefore these could easily be stopped. Doesn't this then solve the problem?

If MIL is at your house looking after your dog, who is looking after her dogs whilst she is at your place?

Tell her to sling her hook during the week, she can pop round to see her little soldier once or twice a week but there is no need for her to be at your house every day. She can't be that lonely if she has two dogs!
Are you sure she's not going through your stuff? She's probably looking for evidence that you are up to no good so that she can get rid of you and have your OH all to herself!

This story just gets weirder and weirder!

    Hi Op,
It DID initially sound like your partner may still be tied to his mothers apron strings when I first read the thread, but see that he has spent the weekend with you as promised so thats brilliant, shows he is listening to you and putting you first.
Well done for sorting it :)

I think you've done the right thing booking a week away and not telling him where, especially telling his mum it is elsewhere. Just don't mention the region or hotel just in case she's reading this thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You seriously need some time together, we intentionally moved away from both sets of parents, especially as we wanted to have kids and bring them up by ourselves without having parents give us "advice" every two minutes.

One thing I would say - my step-mother (and yes she is the type-cast sort!) decided she would help her kids in their relationships, they were unfortunate enough to live nearby. We even had my step-sister desperately finding reasons for us to stay a bit longer one evening. We found out why, when we got back to my father's they had a real go at us for staying so long saying that they wanted to go round and sort out their relationship!! None of her kids marriages or otherwise lasted very long.

You have to do something about this now, before you have any kids (if you are intending to), you have to know that your home is your own and your husband married you rather than his mother.

    Good luck with the holiday.

I've just had a horrible thought - make sure you hide the holiday tickets from possible prying eyes!
