I'm just trying to work out things I can tempt him to eat.... I've read a little chicken soup is ok so will add that to the list. :D

I'm going to have a very fat Westie at the end of this because I can't feed one without the other :o
Brilliant news, so pleased! When my dog was ill (not the last time) I made his food for him. I got chicken thighs, skin on, boiled then simmered till the meat fell off the bone. Used the broth from that to cook some rice then mixed the meat with the rice and the dog loved it! It really seemed to perk him up, too.

The broth goes jelly like when cooled so he got every last bit of that too. Your Jack will love it. Don't worry about Bob putting weight on. You can sort all that out when the pressure's off you a bit.

Really happy to hear Jack's so perky:)

That sounds a great recipe, I think I'll give that a go as well, thanks :)

Bob can stand to gain a bit, he's not underweight but has always been a little skinny so it won't hurt him to gain a little. I bribed him with a carrot in the conservatory while I fed Jack so it wasn't too difficult tonight.

I'd read somewhere that organic baby food was also ideal as long as it had no onion powder in it, though to be honest its probably easier and cheaper to make everything up myself.

I think 5 would bankrupt me!!

This evening we have white fish poached in milk with a dash of turmeric and milk thistle, mashed potato, fresh carrots and broccoli with a smidgeon of parsley for taste.

    Me? Beans on toast....:o

    1. Why do you think I spend time on a money saving forum:rotfl:

    2. Could you adopt me? I don't ever eat that well.

    3. Tell Jack, Ruby's still interested even with the furcut. She thinks it's quite rebellious and trendy looking:o. I've explained that it's going to be paw holding only;). Anyway trying to explain to any progeny of a schnauzer and a scottie that they are schnotties, is going to be difficult.

    LMAO :rotfl:
    Schnotties. Brilliant.
He reminds me a little of a Saluki at the moment, long fur and a short haired, pointy face. Now I'm over the shock I think he looks sweet, thankfully they didn't clip his eyebrows so I can still read his expression somewhat.

So you have 5 Schnauzers then? I was actually looking for a mini schnauzer when I came home with Bob. Turned out the place was breeding alsorts (and badly at that) and there in the next pen to the schnauzer I'd come to look at was a little runt on the litter Westie all on his own. I felt so sorry for him I had to get him out of there and thats how I came to own a westie :o

I have Ruby who is a black and silver schnauzer, but pretty much black, Stella a pepper and salt schnauzer. Then there is Bill the elderly deaf papillon, Lady Miss Till a Garston Terrier ( OK bitzer, but she was feeling left out) that I found in a bad state on the mean streets of Garston. She must have looked bad as the OH didn't put up a fight when I brought her into the house! And finally Heidi, German Klein spitz, the bane, sorry I meant to say love of my life:p. Sorry you asked now aren't you;)

Well, he seems to be doing wonderfully. He's still on the home cooked diet varying between chicken, beef and fish with brown rice and vegetables. I'm feeding him4 times a day with smaller portions to make it easier on his liver.

He's having a teaspoon of Turmeric plus his milk thistle. He seems much much happier, he's food motivated, tail wagging and following us around. Even his skin appears improved and he's no longer nibbling at his feet.

We are back in the vets Friday morning so should know more then, but if I can hold him like this i'll be overjoyed.

That sounds really promising. An improvement in his skin sounds good and that he's eating well ( very well actually!) is always a good sign.

    Pats and woofs:)
