Poorly Jack-Liver Disease

thanks all.
Update from this morning, he's stroppy and refusing to eat but can come home after lunch. I've called our local herbalist who sell a Milk Thistle Plus tablet containing dandelion extract as well so I'm heading down there in a minute or two. I'm determined to at least try and control this. I know I'm never going to get him back 100% but as long as he's happy and in no pain I'll do whats right for him.0 -
You know how we complain about hospital food? Is it the same for dogs?:p.
Well given that you were worried about him having the op at all, this is a reasonable result. Like you say if you can give him a comfortable life then he'll be happy being at home. He's probably a bit miserable after the anaesthetic as well.
best wishes and tail wags to Jack.0 -
So glad he's home.0

So glad he's home.
Me too. OH cried when he saw him, it was such a shock to see him with his face shaved and looking all scabby etc. I told him that 24 hours ago we thought we'd lost the little man for good so I'm over the moon to have him back. Yes, he has a face only a mother could love and this mother loves him to pieces.
He's out for the count on tramadol at the moment, I'm about to try him with a little scrambled egg and rice as he was still refusing to eat for the vet but once he realised he was home he seemed to perk up a bit so I'm hopeful I can get some food in him.

Ever feel like your being had?

I've spent all afternoon on my hands and knees trying to spoon feed every variety of food known to man, we'd been told that unless he'd eaten by tomorrow lunch time he'd be back in. I've tried chicken, rice, peas, minted lamb caesar etc with no luck. I've been syringing in water and generally getting more and more worried.
Cue half an hour ago when OH walks in with 2 slices of Turkey. Jack wolfs it down without a second thought then gets up, goes out for a wee and a poo calling in to have a really long drink of his water on the way back. He then stretched and got back into bed!!!
I think I'm being taken for a mug lol0 -

Excellent!
Typical little toad behaviour. Glad he's well enough to be able to chance his arm. (Or paw.
)
Bless his wee scabby face. (said lovingly
). Herman - MP for all!
