I have had a letter from Barclays today which is the first I have heard since the original goodwill letter.

Basically all it says is that they are still working to the timescales stated in the original letter (in my case 31 August) and that they are overrun at the moment with people phoning them asking for updates. It goes on to say that for anyone phoning they will not (in bold on the letter) be able to answer questions on the progression of payments/offers.

Good news I suppose is that they are still working to have everything sorted for the original dates.

Same her got that letter but its funny because I spoke to them yesterday and they actually gave me 6 different figures as I had 6 loans they said i should receive my settlement letter in the next few days as the final calculations are being worked on.
The guy I spoke to was extra nice I dont think he was meant to give me all the info that he did, but I was happy as it put my mind at ease :)

I have just spoken to Barclays, my letter of exceptance was signed for by registered post on the 1st August, they still have no sign of it on the system, I am still repaying the end of my loan and was due to pay my next payment this week, if I was to pay this amount then this will change the rest of my ammended payments for the loan. I said that I would cancel my loan payment for this month as the new agreement stated the next payment to be in Spetember. The advice from the customer service member of staff was not to cancel it as it would be detrimental to my credit record. I find this really hard to understand. Barclays owe me over £4,000, they do not even think that they are in the wrong. (I feel sorry for the other 75,000 other people that have made a complaint, as just quoted by the customer service advisor.) oh what to do cancel my loan payment or not cancel it that is the question.......
Hi,they are correct, just leave it as it is and pay as normal, the payment you make now will be adjusted and backdated to take into account this payment when your loan is reset.

    1. Why are some claimants accepting offers which are significantly less than the original claim? I read earlier in this very informative thread of someone claiming around £2,500 but accepting £1,500.
Hi there, this depends on if it is a loan or credit card and the 8% calculation, some who may be expecting £xxxxx find that it is more and some find it is less, some have had calculations checked on here and have gone to the bank and asked for it to be looked at again and have had revised figures.
People get what they are owed.

I think we all should bombard Bob Diamond with emails at the way we are being dealt with over these claims.
We as customers (well my hubby in my case!) have the right to be treated with respect and to be dealt with in a timely and effective manner.
I have emailed Bob and the FSA and FOS,they must be sick of me by now,i was angry at the way people were getting "fast tracked" because they emailed the CEO,so i wonder if Bob has had his knuckles rapped?,as it seems odd that no one is being "fast tracked "now, and i make no apology for that,we all should be dealt with in the proper manner and it is time we let them know.
  • I received the same letter yesterday stating that Barclays are working to targets and timescales. This is not the case. I just rang their customer relations manager Mr Mark Melton and he said as my loan is open and will need to be rescheduled I would not receive any settlement by 31 August and there is absolutely nothing he can do to help. I am disgusted that Barclays are receiving great publicity for this "no quibble" approach when all the time they are misleading their customers. He also stated that closed loans are easier to deal with so they are being processed first. Where is the loyalty Barclays???? Get your finger out.

This is very bizarre, I am having the same problem! I posted my acceptance letter back on 6th August by 1st class recorded..... they havent had it yet. If you noticed the address on the pre paid envelope didnt match the address on the letter, so maybe that was part of the delay tactic.....

    hi
i am having the same problem, i posted mine on 8th august by the pre-paid envelope provided by barclays, called yday and they said its not in there system and they havent recvd it. i asked for a new copy of agreement and acceptance letter which they said they will post. this time i am going to send it by signed for next day delivery.

I don't think that will make any difference. They received our letters. I was told by Barclays that it can take over 5 working days to update the system.

Rang on the off chance yesterday as I have heard nothing. Number was for credit card not loans. They said had sent me a letter with offer on 9th August. Said it was one of the larger payouts so am thrilled with that. I have never received it so they are putting another one in the post today. When I said that I could have had some money by now he said probably not as they said they had rooms full of acceptance letters waiting to be processed.
I then rang the Barclays number dealing with the loans and after I gave him my reference numbers he said I wasn't on their system so he couldn't ask me any security questions and couldn't therefore discuss anything. I asked how I had the reference numbers etc and he said he couldn't discuss it. All rather strange. I rang FOS as they had sent me the letters in July saying Barclays were now going to pay out directly and they said they had written to Barclays in July stating that I was happy to accept their offer directly. Said if I hadn't received anything by about 15th September to contact them again. I said I thought they were meant to be dealing with them all by 31st August but he said with post etc to give them a little longer. Grrrrr!!!

Sorry to hear this  i would hold on if i were you, they may not have your details for the claim at Barclays,as it may be in the process of being paid out,and so it has been passed over?.
I hope that is what has happened, fingers crossed for you.

the last letter I got was from the company dealing with my claim (Gladstone Brooks!)... but this was about a week before all the news came about saying barclays will send out letters by such and such a date, then payout 4 weeks later?

Shall I contact Barclays? Gladstone Brooks, or the FOS? Bearing in mind I had to claim on my PPI in March, i was still mis-sold almost 3 years ago in June 2008
