The new payments are broken down as below (Residual PPI from what I gather is what was left from my previous loan when I took this one out)

    H Original PPI Premium £4,527.33
I Intrest incurred due to PPI £888.83
    J Residual PPI £526.36
K Interest incurred due to residual PPI £90.69
A Refund of payments made for PPI £4,264.53
E Overpayments made due to resdual PPI £495.80

L Total value of loan reduction (H+I+J+K)-(A+E) £1,272.88

    Outstanding balance (protected loan) £7,027.81
    Revised loan without PPI £5,754.93
    New monthly loan payment £499.28

My current loan payment is £553 so come down £54 a month.

By the way, I have no idea whatsoever what most of these figures mean :)

    You will get this

Just a thought but ask for a settlement figure on this loan. The refund they are giving you may well pay off the whole thing giving you a spare £553 a month x 12 = £6636 next 12 months.

Also where is your 8% interest on the ppi they seem to have forgotten the payment unless you didnt include it here?

The breakdown I put there is for the reduction in my loan payments, not my refund. I had put the refund calculation earlier on which included the 8%. I think offering to settle the loan may have been a good idea until I let the missus know about the refund. It is now almost all spent :):)
  • Barclays just get better and better!! They sent me a letter 2 weeks ago saying my claim had been upheld, so I signed the paperwork and sent it back via recorded mail, according to RM's website, the letter is still being progressed for delivery, typical!
Todays, Barclays have written to me saying they have not recieved a response to their last letter and have again enclosed the FOS questionnaire for me to fill in, 2 weeks ago they made me an offerm now they are sending me a form to start the process of my claim!! Unbelievable! I will be calling them when I get home from work :D
  • I stand corrected! Spoken to Barclays, well 3 different people, they have confirmed payment has been made, I have just checked account and it has indeed been made!

I am glad to say that after 10 months, I have eventually been successful!!

Thank you to all the posters who have helped me and are helping other all the time, it restores my faith in humanity when you see so many people wanting to help each other!

I only know of 1 client with GB I dont work for them I wouldnt promote them, but she did get a higher payment on her loan with FP than FP are currently offereing. The circumstances were complex. I would see what they had to say, in for a penney etc.....

Its not that simple re offer I am afraid

You should be offered at least a refund of the premiums you have paid plus 8% interest.

Great news Dan_Iggulden - I'm looking forward to 31st August too! I'm still waiting for communication from Barclays about my Barclaycard - started my claim in November 2010 and have heard from them twice. Referred to the FOS and heard about my case in late June. Rang them in July 2011 and was told I am "in the system". My payout won't be large - I only had a £400 limit on my card, but the PPI has caused me to owe them loads even though I don't use the card anymore. Here's hoping the 31st brings the money, or at least an idea of when it might arrive!!

How much ppi did you pay each month included in your overall payment made to the loan.

To work out the refund I would need a lot more info like

    The total loan
    The total ppi loan
    The term of the loan
The interest rate on the loan
    The loan start date
The date loan paid off if applicable
The amount of PPI payable each month within the loan repayments
Was this loan the only loan you have or were other loans consolidated into it

The number of GB so I can bill them for doing there work for them:o
