I find Wilkos own good its quite cheap a big bag for about £3. It also the type that forms clumps so easy to scoop and bag up0

I use citycat cat litter, its the crystal type, I get it from savacentre for about £2.99 (I think) Pets at home had the James Wellbeloved on 3 for 2 last time we were there, about 3 weeks ago. I got stocked up as its the only food my boys will eat.

Why use cat litter-lay down 1/2 a newspaper, tear the rest up into strips -no litter that gets "Walked" everwhere-even better!0
-
Thanks for all the replies (Ive had to use newspaper when Ive run out unexpectedly!).
Think I will try pets at home they usually do offers now & then. Might be cheaper buying online ... will look into that also.0 -
Hi, we use newspaper to put down first in a few strips (this soaks up a lot of wee too which is good) and then use paper based (recycled) litter on top. If you clean the litter tray regularly you shouldnt get too much of a smell anyway.
We use a pet shop called 'jolleys' which works out cheaper then pets at home for us personally.

Hi, we use wood based cat litter and find it to be very good(8 trays x 2 each day!!!  ) We also feed James Wellbeloved to 6 of our lot(one is on a Royal Cannin prescription ) After a lot of trial and error we now get ours delivered. A breders pack which consists of 20 kilos of either duck, turkey or lamb(in whatever combination light/senior or adult) we get 4x 5k packs but you can have 2x10k for £54. The cat litter is £7.50 for 30 ltrs. I found out about the company from a breeder who was amazed that we were spending so much on litter and food. The company is North West Discount Pet Foods based in Blackpool, they cover pretty much everywhere from the midlands upwards. But they are expanding. They deliver free on alternitive weeks and are very reliable(they will put the stuff in sheds garages etc and have never let us down. They have saved us a fortune and no honestly i am not connected to them in any way other than being a satisfied customer. I don't know if I am allowed to post the phone number but if it is not allowed then please remove 01253 766011. Hope this helps someone. Best of luck.Blind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.

Hi there, i've wrote before about the same situation and since then have been trying every option known to mankind to make my kitten poo in the litter tray. We've had her since the day she was born, we took in a pregnant stray and she had 11 kittens whilst she was with us, poor soul
Anyway, mum, 10 kittens and my original 2 cats have been 'clean' from the day they needed to be, all the other kittens have been found good homes, mum has been rehomed and we're back down to 3. Molly who is now 6 months old refuses to go in the litter tray, she goes on the bedroom carpet  and its driving me mad!!
I've several litter trays, they are cleaned on a daily basis and i've tried every variety of cat litter on the market, nothing at all will make her go in there. If i catch her squattting i'll quickly put her in and after a few fights jumping back out again she will go but as i'm not there 24/7 i come home to a bedroom full of suprises. Its relly getting me down now, the only good thing is that the carpet can be bleached etc but thats not a cure for the problem! My house always stinks, its not fair on me my oh or the other cats!
Is there a solution at all?? Any help will be useful, i'm at my wits end!!
Thanks xxLove being a mummy

For a start never use bleach, the ammonia attracts them back to do it again.
Wash with washing powder.
Speak with Vet for ideas, may need the snip.0 -
Hi, Kitchen buff is correct the ammonia in bleach will attract the cat back to the same spot, cats will always 'go' in the same areas if they can smell what used to be there, even if you can't smell it.
I have heard that washing powder does remove that smell, haven't tried it myself, I used to have a tom cat spray in my house and used a product called 'simple solution' from pets at home and that always removed the smell instantly. It is very important that the areas are cleaned enough that the cat can't smell anything has been there before.
If I were in your shoes I would put the cat and a litter tray (& food and water) in a small room, not a room she currently uses as a litter tray, and see if she uses the tray when given less choice of where she can go. This is effectively starting the whole litter training process from the beginning.
In an ideal world as soon as you spot her using the tray (well just afterwards) give her lots of praise, maybe a food treat or something, this would be tricky as you can't just sit and wait hours for her to 'perform', cats do respond well to this kind of thing though.
Other than that the only thing I can think is maybe you are cleaning the litter trays a little too well, remembering that cats like to go where they can smell they've been before maybe try cleaning the tray a little less often.0 -
I'm afraid I can't help in trying to get her to use the litter tray, but a product called Wash And Get Off from pets at home and stopped my precious feline friend using our porch as a litter pan! Once he stopped going in the porch, he went to the litter tray without any training.
Also, cats don't like to do their business in the same area where they eat and drink. Perhaps her food could be too close to the litter?0
