I called into Tescos in Stroud tonight for my normal shopping and it was almost empty of people. Some shelves were a bit low on stock, but otherwise OK.Happy chappy0

I went to Tesco in Glos (Quedgeley) last night at about 9pm for juice, was dreading it thinking it would be heaving but it was almost empty. Shelf stackers were out in force
so if anyone's forgotten anything, I guarantee Tesco will have it

I popped into Asda about an hour ago thinking it would be nice and quiet and it was HEAVING!!!!!! Completely manic, what the heck is that about? I assumed everyone would have their shopping by now but there were people wandering round with massively laden trolleys
Anyway I picked up a chicken for a quid and so am gonna do myself a roast dinner tomorrow - the plan was to cook something nice and for that price I might as well have a mini dinner.Comps £2016 in 2016 - 1 wins = £530 26.2%

We always do our Christmas dinner shopping on Christmas Eve - well, we cheated a bit this year and started yesterday, because today's Sunday and the shops are only open 10 - 4.
It's always quite exciting because we never know what we'll be having, and we run down the freezer to create space for our bargains, so there isn't much of a safety-net if it all goes wrong! I usually make sure we have a couple of pounds of sausages handy, luckily we haven't been reduced to eating those on Christmas Day yet
This year we got -
2 fresh turkeys ( one organic)
1 huge fresh salmon
1 joint of beef
braising steak
mince
about thirty portion's worth of nice ready meals, including Tesco Finest
Loads of fruit and veg
2 bottles Schloer, 8 cans Red Bull, 2 cartons orange juice
2 large trifles
cream
8 pizzas
10 packets of - pitta bread, scones, scotch pancakes, nan, rolls
2 loaves
sliced turkey (!)
egg mayonaisse
Hellmann's mayo
10 pints milk
2 x bread sauce
Stuffing, bacon rolls
cranberry sauce
A bunch of flowers ...
and some other stuff probably, I'm losing track.
It all came to just over £90, plus 200 extra Clubcard points for the turkey :T
Hoping to do the same at New Year and then not go to a shop again until Easter :rotfl:
Happy Christmas everyone!
P.S. - just checked the receipts, and I missed out -
4 cartons new Covent Garden soup
2 large apple crumbles
2 large cartons custard
2 huge quiches
4 custard tarts
12 free-range eggs
2 packets nice sausages
and the grand total was £90.71. Who says Christmas is an expensive time of year?!0 -
why do people HAVE to go mad at xmas
i havent bought anything extra for the holidays as i dont see the point in buying stuff thats gonna be chucked out anyway.
people overeat for the sake of it too and thats without how much its gonna cost them in january when the ole credit card bills roll in.
humbug moi

Um, just in case you meant me - it's nearly all in the freezer, apart from the soup which we've eaten, the salmon and some veg which we had tonight (yum!), and one turkey and trimmings for tomorrow.
None of it's going to get wasted, I promise!0 -
