went to Makro yesterday evening around 9pm. No queus, very quiet shop got everything we wanted except carrots. Will probably go down to Costco (new one in Sheffield, there hardly ever anyone there!) tomorrow afternoon to pick up a few last minute things and some carrots0

Not managed to get to a supermarket to buy the turkey yet. Are there any left?0

Popped to Asda and then Tesco yesterday evening for a few things around 6:30, mainly fresh items.. They weren't too bad at all! Got car parking spaces right away and the checkouts weren't bad, all were open but only had 1 person, if any, waiting to be served.
I must say many of the shoppers in Asda were rude and loved pushing their stupid trolleys into you! tutting and sighing :rotfl: bless  Trolleys were overflowing, you would have thought the supermarkets were closing for a week or 4 with all that food!
The £2.00 Coin Savers Club = approx £22.00  :j.. The 20p Savers Club = £17.80.

I set my alarm for 6am this morning & was at my local Tesco by 6.20am & you should have seen the queues !!! Seems like everyone had the same idea ! I needed some food & bits (but not xmas dinner) but it was chaos, there was no milk, no carrots, there were only afew loaves of bread left - why ??? How much do people buy ?!! Thankfully I got some longlife milk so I won't have to go back for some time !!

merry christmas all

I needed eggs which I forgot when I went out on thursday. After elbowing my way down the pedestrian only thoroughfare to almost empty sommerfields ,I found the only eggs they had left were broken so I had to brave Sainsburys. It was crowded.Even the self serve was queued up back up the shop. Eventually I joined a short queue of 1 (they had a whole conveyor belt of shopping) and seeing me standing with my one box of eggs they took pity on me and let me go first(yay).Glad thats all we needed

Can't think why everyone goes so mad, the shops will be open again on wednesday.0 -

Well it turned out to be nowhere near as bad as I feared! Actually got the shopping done in a couple of hours, about our usual time for a Saturday. Think it helped that we'd been buying items over the past few weeks so really just had to to get fresh stuff like cream & veg today.

Did anyone see Peter Kay on Paul O Gradys show tuther night when he said
People just say all we have left to get is bits ???? Buying every single loaf and every single pint of milk in the supermarket as if they where stocking up for a nuclear war !
True though isnt it , thats why i hate this retail madness of a society we live in and the sooner i opt out the better ......0 -

We must have the true meaning of Christmas around here, LOL we went for bread this morning at 10am, Tesco was even quieter than the other night, I was totally shocked, I got a space on thr front row and strainght into an empty checkout when I had finished, the bread choice was limited so I can only assume they had a rush on first thing but I am not complaining about queues this year.
Local high street and market was dead too and my DD has just been out of town and said it was quiet there too compared to a normal Saturday afternoon.0 -
I went to Asda and was really pleased as it wasn't much busier than usual and the tills were quicker than normal ... but the local Scouts were "helping" pack bags for you. I politely declined but they insisted on helping me. Well, 4 x 2 litre bottles of coke/lemonade in one bag very quickly broke the bag
... and the frozen stuff in with the freshly cooked chicken ... still, suppose they were trying to be helpful!
Good luck to those of you still to brave the supermarket!!!Mortgage Total: £50,772/ £75,000
