supermarket shop mayhem

I went to Sainsburys at 1.30pm. There were spaces not too far from the doors, and plenty of trolleys. Inside it was no busier than a normal Friday.
Got all my shopping apart from limes which they had sold out of! At the checkouts, there was someone being served, then a lady in front of me, so queing wasn't bad at all.
Called in at a Somerfield on the way home and it was dead with only a handful of people in there. I managed to get some limes in there! Here I go again on my own....0 -
My dad went to the farm for veg today and there were 9 cars there. There is usually a steady stream at anytime but i've never seen 9 cars at once. Most i've seen is 3 at any one time. They're even mad out in the country.

I went to Tesco & Morrisons today just for a few items....
while the queues were extremely long for people with trolleys piled high....the checkouts for baskets and 10 items or less were practically empty, was in and out of both stores in minutes.0 -
Just back from Asda, left at about half midnight, had a good look around, managed to get everything we wanted 'cept Banana's [we were only picking up the last minute things we needed that should be fresh] Not massively happy with their best before dates, but... it's the price you pay for convenience.
Shop was relatively empty, though not a lot was on the shelves and what was had been obviously well picked over, but again... anyone would think it was a week they were shut

i went to sainsbury's after work and couldn't even park in the car park. There were no spaces and people were waiting for spaces where they could see people loading up the shopping, thus causing a traffic jam in the one-way system in the car park.
Decided I didn't have the patience to wait so went to Tesco's instead as they have a larger car park!
Tesco's was hell on a stick, people buying food like it was running out. I only went in for salad veg and cream & milk. The atmosphere was quite nice though because it was so busy.0 -
Did a basket shop in Morrisons, the queues for people with trolleys was v. v. bad. Did main shop in Sainsburys, and it was v. quiet, managed to get everything on my list, no bargains tho!0

xmas is crazy , it is like the whole world shops for food as if we are all going to the moon for 6 weeks !!
Great atmosphere though I suppose , went to the the Panto in Truro yesterday and feel a bit more festive .0 -
Feeling rather smug at the moment!! Have recently decided to get as much as possible from the local shops to try to keep them going, only going into ASDA if it is impossible to get the item anywhere else (silver balls for cakes for example - no one else in the world appears to sell them!).
Anyway. Phoned local greengrocer on Wednesday with my fruit / salad / veg order to be picked up this morning. Walked in at 9am, past the long queue at the till, told one of the ladies I had an order to pick up. It had all been boxed and invoiced, they just took the money and put it straight in the till - didn't even have to queue!! The owner even carried my boxes to the car with a 'Merry Christmas' for me.
Have been getting everything else bit by bit gfor the past couple of weeks, so it has been a fantastic and easy shop for me today
