Single-file around Morrisons on Friday, due to the last minute lemmings; today was far far quieter, and when the checkout girl told me BOGOF, I even had time to tell her to wash her mouth out with soap and water.

We went to one of the biggest Tescos in the country this morning at 7.30, the roads were really quiet on the way (even so 3 cars had managed to have a smash needing ambulances) so we thought it would be quiet in the shop. No chance! It was heaving, carpark half full when we got there, completely full by the time we left at 8.30. Never seen so many people with shopping lists!!

From there we went to the butchers from where I'd ordered our first ever fresh turkey. Queue out the shop and across the carpark, took 20 mins to get to the front. Bloody hell, £50 for a 15lb turkey........... it'd better taste good!

I went into town and was really surprised other than Boots and Woolworths it didn't seem any busier than a normal Saturday, passed Aldi and it was so quiet decided to get a bits I wasn't going to bother about. Wonder if people aren't spending or ordering on the internet?

Walked into town early afternoon - bit quieter than a normal Saturday. Plenty of stuff (including sprouts..) left in the market, Netto had white bread marked down to at 10p a loaf (no bread sauce addicts round here), Sainsbury had plenty of turkeys and some cracking deals - whole salmon (around 1.5kg) less than £3, king prawns at £2, they're obviously not risking too much on tomorrow.

went to asda midday on fri and it was a complete nightmare, i wanted to go late at night but hubby needed to watch kids if we went then and he wouldnt trust me not to just get all the food i like! so we braved asda at the busiest time in the whole world , i needed body armour and cs gas!
  • i was prepared for the worst when i did my xmas food shop yest... (i had dd whos 8 and ds whos 2 with me) but i managed to do most of my shop in somerfield (who home delivered it for me) without any fuss or queues, then wandered down to the market (which was averagely busy ) to get the veg and dog shampoo, then tescos was slightly busier than normal but was in and out within 15 mins. so my xmas food shop was really no different to any other week. :) good luck to anybody who has yet to do theirs
does my bum look big in this sig?

I thought there was a war on because I saw people queueing around the corner at the butchers.
We get plenty of notice that xmas is coming! I really can't see the problem.

what a brilliant laugh at all the shopping expo's! I live in a small rural village & choose to have my shopping delivered by Mr Sainsbury who comes all of 30 odd miles bless em! So i had no probs whatsoever, but my mum said she went to her local sainsburys yest to get her turkey & they were selling like 'hotcakes' & 'some poor woman was trawling thru an over packed M&S to get one cos there were none left in sainsburys' (which made her chuffed that she had got one!) Tis the season to be daft.............can anyone beat my mum-in-law? She actually freezes the milk just incase there isnt any to make her trifle! lol.
