  • Hi All,

I know everyone is disapearing over to the new 2012 thread, but i thought as its still 2011 i will stay here...:D

Just came back from the co-op to see waht post christmas reductions they had...

not alot except a load of chickens reduced from £5 to £2.50..

I could really kick myself that we didnt get a new chest freezer before chrimbo..... I know prob the chickens will be reduced even further, BUT.... it is still a good reduction....They were classed as 'large' chickens but to be honest a few years ago they would have been classed as medium...( small ones at that)

dont know whether it is worth phoning currys etc and seeing if the freezer i was looking at is still the same price ( or lower) and see if they have them in stock...If they do, hubby and the boys can go and get one....later...

But on saying that i think i know what his answer will be :rotfl:

Been missing in action, so I better go and look for the new thread, ready for the new year. I too am still firmly planted in 2011! The thought of 2012 is scarey as so many changes are due to happen, and the income will once again be reduced! Such is life.
I shall have to find the frugal side of me again. Although my Christmas was a lot more homemade gifts and less bought, I still managed to have a lot of gifts to give. Next year I hope I will be even more organised and just a little more professional in my approach to it all, and less last minute! But I am sure thats what we all want to be!. At least this year I have managed to stay within my means, not get into any debts, and will start the new year with about £400 in savings still. Not as much as I would have liked, but at least there are funds in the savings pot!. Without MSE I doubt that would have been the case at all.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

    Hello everyone

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas ours was rather quiet as we had only one guest rather than the usual ten or eleven of us.

Did go to sister in laws later until three in the morning though.

I am rather tired and still a touch flueyfied.

I will join the new thread in 2012.

I have just taken the tightness test, I'm 64% tight, brilliant. Although I think answering yes to some of those questions just makes me clever not tight. Why pay cinema prices when you can put a bag of malteasers in your handbag bought from the supermarket (on offer of course) then whip them out when the lights go down, that's just organised if you ask me :D

  • one frugal thing i started doing a few years ago was to stop buying christmas cards..

Every year i would buy packs of cards, write loads and then never see the people to give them the cards.

I personally think christmas cards are a waste of money ( and trees). This year i sent just one card i made, on another forum we do themed swops now and again, so i felt a bit mean not sending a chrimbo card with the handmade swop.

When the kids were small, i bought a load ( and i mean a load....lol..) of christmas paper that hadnt been put inot rolls etc, basically came straight from the printers. ( bought it in a play resource centre) it was only 50p for the whole lot... the kids had the same crimbo paper for years:rotfl: in the end they asked me to buy diff paper:eek:

This year i bought 2 rolls for a £1 in home bargins......

Back to work today:o its going to be manic this week and next because of the short weeks....went into work yesturday for a few hours to try and do a bit of tidying and getting some stuff ready to start ebaying again ( I own my own business)

right off to make another cuppa, and do some turkey and coleslaw sandwiches for me, huuby and eldest ( they work at the business too)
