Thanks slowly you have a great time xxx
I have not been posting here as much as I could not fathom which thread people were on. Is the 2012 one in a different section ??? I must admit it does not take much to confuse me at the moment
DH has finished work today for 2 weeks so it may start to feel a little more like Christmas, is it because it lands on a weekend and most people are working right up til Friday or is it because everyone is skint that there does not seem to be much Christmas cheer around???
Well the moggies have killed the tree, only a quarter of it has baubles on the rest looks like it has been through a wood chippper :rotfl:
Cake to ice tomorrow and DSSs birthday so that should keep me out of mischief running around doing a little tea party.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:at the sound of your tree! We have two old cats (they're 12) and one of them just has a wee sniff anytime new presents go under the tree. The other one though has obviously taken some kind of offence to the tree encroaching on his space, as every morning there's a god-awful yowl followed by the jingling of terrified ornaments as the fat muppet tries to scale the tree :rotfl::rotfl:

Hello fellow frugallers:j
All the Christmas prep is now done here at Gnat Bottomed Towers so we took the opportunity to celebrate with a small ginger wine this morning:D I've done lots of cleaning and tidying and now have a head full of plans to meet the frugal challenges that lie ahead next year. I'm starting with a full audit of all the cupboards freezer etc for food and cleaning stuff on 31st Dec so I know exactly where I'm at and I'm going to work out a realistic budget for the annual food spend.
Lovely smells wafting up from the kitchen - Mr GBT has been teaching the small person [I say small he's 13 and taller than both of us:rotfl:] how to make pastry [I made the mincemeat a few weeks back] so we now have a batch of mince pies, cheese and marmite [that'll be Mr T frugal OB version:rotfl:] straws and a few sausage rolls from the two stray frozen sausages that have been lurking since 1465:rotfl:I think some of my frugal ways might be beginning to register with the small person- he has of his own accord turned his bottle of Clearasil upside down to get the last dregs out:eek:
On the home brewing front- we will be enjoying a bottle of hm strawberry wine with our festive dinner. Mr GBT bottled the peach wine last night and his next cunning plan is to make ginger. Woo hoo!
More frugal crafting here- my wonderful ever so talented Mum has made a beautiful quilt for the small person from scraps that she has dyed herself with indigo and lots of denim patches from old clothes that she was given from freecycle [she also swapped some of her patchwork stash with another freecycler for a whole bolt of denim fabric] It's lovely and he is rather jolly about it all. He's now asking when I'm going to finish the freecycled wool blanket I'm knitting to go with it....I've finished the knitting and stitched all the ends in today so shall start to blanket stitch it all together this afternoon maybe.
I know this site will be familiar to many but hopefully it might make your Chrimble food stretch a little further;)

The biscuits sound yummy :-).. im diabetic, its worth asking if they are on insulin or not. If diet controlled and or just meds i would not be able to have the biscuits with the sugar in (maybe 1 max).... but if on insulin then pretty much any biscuit will be ok.. as the insulin is working as the pancreas and does the job as it would do if working. Plus super for hypos
xx hope that makes sense

The way I make them, they are about the size of a babies palm. I'm sure my neighbour has told me he doesn't take insulin as when he was diagnosed many years ago, his doctor recommended everything in moderation, exercise and he would be OK.... I know he goes for regular check ups (had throat cancer many years ago too) .. but I've changed my present. Was in lidl today and they had a bag of macadenia nuts for £2.99... he loves nut (has a few watching telly when he's in the mood) . I got lovely glass jars for the shortbread cookies, but will work with the nuts too :-)Living Simply, not simply living.Weight Loss - 5b/55lb
