I have fallen off of the frugal ladder of late! oops. But I think that its time I reined myself back in. So time for me to go back over this thread and have a bit of a read and some inspiration again.!When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0

Well, first day of the week over! It's also been a NSD in the sf household, so that's good. Tea is currently HM pizza using a wholemeal wrap as the base; healthier and OS as the wraps needed eating
Hope everyone else is wellBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Mmmmmm all this talk of soup, very wintry and cosy
I've just put mine in the fridge for work tomorrow, tomato and basil, not homemade for a change though, but at least I'm taking lunch in.
Was a momentous day today...well for me anyway. I've been saving £2 coins in my little pink piggy for months now and as I couldn't squeeze another one in today I counted it. £142.60p! I must have put the 60p in in the darkBanked it today along with some other money before I spent it. I am so pleased with that :j
I've also changed £50 into 50 one pound coins and hope this will last me for a week for groceries, bits and bobs etc as from tomorrow. So a bit of a frugal money challenge going on here.
And I'm going to make the evening meals with what I've already got in, well try to anyway, so I'll be updating with that.
Frugal hat well and truly on this week!
Also went back to the opticians to pick up my readers and they're going to see if there's anything they can do re my glasses, if not I'm going to change the frames.
Didn't quite get to have the craft day I was hoping, but I'm pleased with what I've done.
I have a mountain of ironing and will have to do it as I have literally run out of clothes to wear, well my favourite ones anyway!
Going to give myself two hours to do it all, starting from.............now!

Fresian I am sure your soup will be lovely. I made my husband some the other week with a gammon shank at £1.69, got lots of meat off it. Made a few portions for the freezer as well.
My MIL used to make a lot of soup this way but she discovered those Knorr ham stock cubes and now uses this as a base for her soup and just adds lentils and carrots, she says this is from a weight watchers recipe. Husband isnt keen on it though as he says there is something missing (meat probably)0 -
Ohhhh I've now been inspired to make my first soup of the autumn/winter today! Thanks Fresian
. I've got some stock in the freezer that I did the other day and loads of bits of veg ..... could be done in time for lunch if I go and actually do somehing rather than reading on here!
Dizzy- congrats on the £2 coin tin:j I raided mine in August as I just couldn't bear the thought of another winter with holey lino in the bathrooms and it nearly covered the cost of the new bit (one big bit for £50 which did both bathrooms).
I've started a new tin now with £1 and a separate one with some 50p, 20p and 10p in.
The bus to work is either £3.70 or £1.80 depending on which bus comes (you guessed it, the cheap one only runs twice a day - and unfortunately 20 mins before I can get out of work:mad:).
I don't use the bus a lot but if the weather's terrible I do as it's a very rural, twisty road between home & work with a huge horrible hill in the middle.
Unfortunately they don't take change and if I end up on the £3.70 bus both ways for a week it quickly adds up. I ended up using it for over 4 weeks last year and trying to find around £150 that hadn't been budgeted for was difficult.
A weekly/monthly bus ticket isn't really feasible it's usually a day here & there and you really want to get the first bus that comes as it's sods law that you wait for an hour, have a bus pass for company A and company B turns up;)
Hopefully, I can manage to get a few £s put away over the next couple of months to help out.
Now ... I really must go and get that stock out!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
