  • Hi everyone. Haven't posted but I have been reading and just caught up now.
Sandra how about a hamper for DH with some of his favourite things in. Maybe some dvds, chocolate, teas or special coffees. Things that you know are personal to him rather than a generic gift. Hope all went well with the hospital appointments.

how did the candle party go? I bet your house smelt gorgeous that night.

SeriouslyFrugal thanks for the link to the food challenge. Some really good extra links on there.

Aril those bean pasties sound tasty. I love pastry and beans so a winner for me.

Ruby we only had one Trick or Treat and that was on Monday and it was a friends little girl. Yet some years it's one after the other.
And those pumpkins of yours...now they were brilliant!

LolaLemon all sounds well with your new chap, hope everything else picks up for you and you soon hear some good news on the job front.

Tumpty sending you some warm hugs. Get well soon.

Spiral a long weekend away, a woodburning stove to cuddle in front of...mmmm getting the picture now. Lucky you ;)
Oh and not very nice re.the workmen. Mucky devils!

Paidinchicks good luck at the dentist. But once it's out then that's it, no more pain.

Slowly how fast is your wedding approaching! Hope all is getting better.

    I don't think I've missed anyone.
Didn't go to work Monday and Tuesday. Had my eyes tested because of the headaches and my prescription has changed so went for varifocals which I picked up today. Glad I also got a pair of readers! I'm not too bad with them and I'll just have to get used to the 'channel' you have to look through. Moving head not eyes!
Have got blood tests on Friday and hopefully it will pinpoint why I'm tired and aching most of the time. I'm blimming fed up of feeling like I have no energy...
Little doggie had her booster and yearly check up and the vet recommended some joint supplements. Went to pay and the joint supplements alone were £79. I said 'My husband will be having these as well at that price' Crikey Charlie...but she's worth it :D Though I have to crush them and mix them with peanut butter or grated cheese otherwise she won't have them.
OH has gone off to work with my crochet and cross stitch in the boot so I'm going to do a few rows on DD scarf.
And I will be going to bed at a reasonable time. I'm going to start looking after myself a bit more.
    Warm hugs to everyone.

I don't believe in the concept of hell, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.

Tesco are doing the £20 packs of Fushion/Mach 3 razors and blades again. For Fusion this works out at £2.27 a blade and Mach 3 is £1.25

    Evening fellow frugallers:j:j
Nothing too racy going on here at GBT but have been getting on with the Christmas shopping. Lots of good quality bargains from the charity shops and have been buying a few goodies on BOGOff from the supermarkets. Am going to make some mincemeat at the weekend- I know I could buy it for cheaper but I do so enjoy making it and then giving jars to friends and family. We have decided to have panatone for Christmas this year as none of us like the traditional pud or cake... I have discovered that our Wilkos sell one for £3 as opposed to £4.65+ elsewhere. We have also decided to buy our meat from the local farmers market as one of the stalls does free range and it's about a third less than the butcher. Other than that we've asked my parents for a family card to the Weald and Downland museum rather than presents which will allow us to attend all of the special events during the year and it's a place as a family we love to go but usually the cost is just too prohibitive.

  • The heating is still not on! And I haven't turned the water temp up yet but I'm going to have to soon as baths are not quite hot enough.
Still feel terrible, my son is still off school too, he could go back but he keeps being sick at the tinyest triggers - nothing to do with having the flu, it's a sensory thing and I need to see the pediatrician about it cos it's starting to really limit his life. School have a policy of kids being off for 48 hours if they are sick so until he calms down a bit I need to keep him off.

Do I need to phone tax credits to tell them I am ill and not working?

Bought a loaf of bread yesterday and some limes, £2. Veg box was delivered (life saver!) £15 - if you are in Somerset the cover the outer and inner Bristol area - and are called Veg Box 2 U - if I'm allowed to promote them on here, it's just so good to get great service and value that I want to pass it on.

Going to go into town later to get my son some new shoes which will dent the bank balance somewhat...... Clarkes have a sale on but only on trainers. Also I want to go to the fabric shop and look at patterns for winter coats cos I am too lazy to cut my own pattern, but I'll have to see how my son is doing, it may be easier to wait and go alone.

The box of Xmas stuff is growing - I've been buying things from charity shops for a couple of months now to fill it, but I need to write a proper list of who is getting what. And I have more things to make. Why are dads so difficult!

I'm supposed to go for afternoon cocktails tomorrow (voucher!) and I'm really hoping I'm well enough!

It's a very me me me update, sorry!
  • Tumpty : I would look at either direct.gov or hmrc re the tax credit issue

managed to stay dry while doing my health walk this morning :j

    have a good weekend everyone
    Emma :hello:
  • thanks I googled and it looks as if you have to be off work for 28 weeks for it to be a problem, I'm really expecting the flu to be gone much sooner than that :-)

Hi all, we are a poorly house atm just got a cold, achey, tiredness bug! Me and hubby have had it for about a week now and it won't go! Not bad enough to be in bed but just feel uhhh all the time!

Candle party was last night, it was great, lots of people turned up and did some xmas shopping, I got some freebies and you're right my house still smells lovely!

I've got my old Sat job back until xmas, it's in an estate agents, I quit about 18 months ago when my business took off but it's gone quiet so I have been doing viewings for them and then their Sat worker left suddenly so they offered it to me until they get things sorted or forever if I want it but we really need to get our tumble down cottage finished and Sat is the prime day for hubby doing work but if I'm working he has the kiddies, anyway, it's a few extra £s before xmas.

Got the breadmaker, footie boots and also got a disco ball light for £5 today, will be ideal pressie for DS for xmas, he's obsessed with music and lights!! Been picking up odd bits for xmas, trying to buy 2nd hand or from local charities or traders.

We were meant to be going out tonight but both feel rubbish so staying in and I'm in my PJs and of to snuggle up and watch Kirstie's handmade Britain.

    Have a good weekend all x x
