  • rising Two mortgage payments :eek: That would keep me awake at night with or without a list.

Talking of mortages, I have just realised I split from my Ex 5 years today. We had a bumpy on/off relationship full of problems (not our doing) and finally called it a day. I remember as it was two days before Halloween and I had arranged a party for the kids and still had to go through with it even though my head was where the sun don't shine. I had to re mortgage the house for £79 000 which scared me half to death. EX stopped paying any money the day I signed. Terrible dark days.

I have now been with hubby 4 yrs and married 2 of those we have our problems with both our ex's etc but he is a lovley, kind man and I feel blessed to have met him. The mortgage statement came through and it is now £62 800.

    Sorry for the waffle

Ruby what a time you're having at the moment! Hope you got yourself something nice from the charity shop to make up for it all.
Seriously frugal thanks for the link. Think I'll download the 'Keep Calm And Don't Shop' pdf poster on there as a reminder to myself.
Slowlyfading hope things are getting better for you.
Paidinchicks you're not waffling and it's good to let things out. Glad you've found happiness now.
Rising can you remember what Sandras November challenge was on here. Maybe it will help with the two mortgage payments.

Well we went to the pub quiz and came joint second. Not bad I suppose. Went back to friends and got in about 2.30am. We had a good laugh, which I really needed.
Back at work Monday and once again not done anything really that was on my to do list. Most of the time was taken up with DD bedroom, but it is lovely and she's more than happy with it.
OH and I didn't get our day out except trips to B & Q and I don't think that counts.
Had headaches nearly every day this week and think I'm probably due for my eye test, maybe it's just a bit of tension.
Not much planned for tomorrow. There's a local table top sale which we might go to, if I get up in time!
Hope everyone has a cheery Sunday

Hope your bad news last week wasn't too bad, SlowlyFading. Haven't caught up on here for ages because of all the bad news we've had over the past 3 weeks.

    Keep on frugaling, folks.

SlowlyFading, will you still be taking up the reins for me on here for the 2012 challenge? I'll make the extra effort to get back as soon as possible. The past year+ has been pretty unbelieveable, but we're almost on top of things now. (And still debt free, despite all odds!)

  • It's Sunday, and DD should be home sometime this week, but DSIL can only get a couple of days off work, so I shall be looking after her, as she can't be left on her own, and doing the school runs.

"Help" from "The Team" is yet to be arranged, so I am trying to sort that out, but it's like wading through treacle. But, and it's a fingers-crossed but, I think we have reached rock-bottom, so it's all uphill from now on, and things can only get better.:)

My Four Months Frugal Challenge, that started in September, has already been halved - we've only got 2 months left! But the wonderfully mild weather has meant that the heating has hardly been on at all, and the quarterly bill, which is only 3 weeks away, is far from being a King William - it looks like being a Little Willy!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Having been out and about all last week with DGD, I've managed to get all my Christmas presents, apart from DH's. He's soooo difficult to buy for, and it's his birthday on Christmas Day as well. We have a fresh raft of hospital appointments this week as well.

Thank you all again for your messages of support - they have meant so much, and have helped me get through a dreadful time.

    xx
  • Sandra great news that DD is on the mend and due home, although I know it'll still be a difficult time for a while yet .... so, once again, all I can say is (((hugs))).

I can also say the 1st two months of the "September - December" challenge have been way off for me :obut I've done lots of stocking up and should be able to be very frugal for November & December.

Pets are sorted for between 4 months (dog) and 6 months (cats) food wise but it's really hard to stop looking for offers and not buy more:o. One month's worth of supplies (pet & human) put away for winter emergencies - which will help ease the budget early next year if the weather's OK (fingers crossed):)

I'm afaid I'm wishing November away as there literally isn't a penny spare with both mortgage payments:( ...... but it will be better in the long run so I guess it's worth it. (I just could've done with it not being just before Christmas).

I've just managed to complete my first full month's spending diary and the habit will hopefully stay - it does concentrate the mind when you see it written down (even though it's in the SOW as well).

Enjoy the rest of the weekend:)

    Hi all

Sorry I haven't posted much lately, all is good here, still frugalling away. DS had to dress up in 1960's dress before half term for school, so I went and bought 2 flowery pillow cases from the charity shops and some haberdashery and made him a waist coat and put flares in an old pair of trousers, he looked really good for a few £'s and hours of work (I'm not a natural sewer!!!)

Just seen a pair of footie boots for £2 and a breadmaker for £5 on facebook, so hopefully picking them up tomorrow. Also going to go to the library and round the charity shops.

I'm having a candle party on Thursday, friends make beautiful cupcakes candles and burner melts so are bringing them round, hoping to get some freebie xmas pressies if everyone else spends!!

Heating's on, we gave in when we all got awful cold / flu bugs!

Hugs to all those having a tough time atm.
