    Hello fellow frugallers:j
    Hugs to SS and SF.

Bit of an odd day here at GBT- went to my new job and my boss wasn't there!! Have left a message and hope all is ok with him. N'er mind sure it will all be sorted out.
Instead I made good use of my unexpected day off to do some more frugalling. Went to Mr T for a change to do my shop and scored some good deals - a big dented tin of Quality Street for £3.50. It's only for us for Chrimbo. Also doubled up on the BOGOff snack deals and put those away in the garage for Chrimbo so I can't get at them!! They also had bags of Doves flour reduced from £2 to 49p so pushed the boat out and bought 2:rotfl::rotfl:
Beyond much domestic trivia I've taken up the hems on the small person's school trousers [bought and put away in the sales], done a spot of make do and mend and hacked the top of a dress off that I was given to see if I can make it into a skirt. I figured it was worth a shot as it hasn't cost me anything. However, I must get on with finishing the blanket for the small person and seeing if I can cannibalise the remaining fabric from an old pair of curtains [already used some of the material on something else] to see if I can make some linings from them for the thin curtains in the front room. Woohoo I know how to live!!

what a lot of crafting you're up to at the moment. And saving money as well into the bargain. Always good :)

seriouslyfrugal thanks for the update offers.

Got lots to do here today. Have spent the last week or so revamping DD bedroom. Decorating, painting and getting a new bed and wardrobe. Yesterday OH and DDs boyfriend put the bed and wardrobe up and now just got blinds to put up. Today its lots of trips to the tip to get rid of all the packaging. Oh is still a bit under the weather but he soldiers on. Bless him. And tonight... me and OH are out with friends on a pub quiz :j
Got a couple more little Christmas x stitch kits yesterday and started on another one last night. They really are so relaxing to do.
And my frugal thing for today is taking a tub of paint back as only needed 1 for DD bedroom so that's going back in the bank :D
    Warm hugs to all

Oh spiral. I would looooove a wood burning stove. Especially for the Winter. How cosy and romantic is that going to be in the cold months coming up?
Nevermind the argument with OH, whats done is done and look what you've got to look forward to :)

:j:jFantastic news ..... ohhhhh I'd love one too!

I'm a bit of a "list freak" (worry I'll forget things which stops me sleeping etc so just easier to write them down - I can then forget about them as I know they'll not be forgotten IYSWIM) ...

I've got lists for everything and for my "next house" one - an open fire / stove is high on the list.

Have finally managed to re-do out the SOW from my last back-up ..... won't be 100% as there were a few small cash buys where I just threw out the receipts but better than nothing.

Budgets looking OK - a couple are overspent but due to changing insurance / utility providers.

November is going to be a very difficult month as have 2 mortgage payments to make:eek: as I'm switching lender.

Will be worth it after that tho' as my current mortgage deal has ended and it's gone up £70/month - as the new one is also slightly cheaper, it's saving about £100/month compared to leaving it where it is.

    Hello everyone.

Had a bit of a disastrous day yesterday.

Cancelled dance therapy as I had electrician coming in the morning but they didn't turn up.

Rang them to be told they'd tried to ring me but phone was temporarily out of order!

Also missed out on a physiotherapy cancellation because of that and now have to wait until December!

Thought I'd make some bread - found a bread mix I'd forgotten about and out hopped a moth and it was wriggling!

Luckily most of my flour etc is in sealed jars but I had to through away some that wasn't and also a whole bag of sealed walnut!!

Then made a tarte tatin but didn't realise you cook it upside down.

My baking beans smelt funny so I decided to use some old pudding rice to bake blind but forgot to use parchement!

I was there forever trying to remove grains of rice!

Anyway it tasted quite good but looked terrible!

I did nearly crack me teeth on the odd grain of rice though!

Internet all sorted at home now - it was the router, we had hub 1 and they're now on hub 3.

May have a mooch in the charity shops later although I did go wild in the 99p store in Stratford the other day! They have some lovely Yardly soaps. By passed Westfield though!

Had a lovely walk this morning through the park and am now keeping boy's cat company.

Hope things soon get better for you and your's Sandra - take care.

    Love to everyone x
Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
    And we were young.
