Spiral, No, really! I grew up in MH, lived there for 18 years until I left to go to Uni, was born in Kettering though. For a while I lived out Medbourne way and Corby was our nearest shopping town. I love going back there now, visiting old relatives and some friends, although so many things have changed. Every time I see that Frank Gilbert is still there I feel irrationally pleased -it'll be a dark day for MH when that shop finally closes down.
AT school Tom Joule was just the coolest guy and had a lovely way with folks - really nice and friendly - a charmer. By all accounts he's not changed much.Trying to keep in budget.

Gien, it's a small world! We're just outside Kettering! Though we both grew up the other side of northampton. Corby is chaining so much, and all for the good. I'm off there is afternoon for the huge wilkinsons for cider yeast and draft excluders! Then asda hoping for a snow shovel and something Halloweeny for a party.
MKH is such a nice place, really good independent shops and charity shops too! We'd like to live there but it's too pricy.Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Clarks village was rubbish, though I did get 6 denby plates for 12 quid in a glastonbury charity shop so it was a good day. If I ever go again ill go on my own. My strategy was to get there early and zap round so I could get out fast. My friend dawdles and we qere there til lunch time. I get panic attacks in crowds so it wasn't lovely for me. I did think I made it clear what I had planned.0

Tumpty - sorry you didn't find Clarks v. good, it is a bit of a mixed bag. Was probably better before the advent of Ebay really!
OH rang at lunchtime: 'I'm outside your house' (I have stayed up in Ciren this weekend). So he had driven 200 miles to surprise me:j :T:smileyhea
We went for a walk around Cotswold Water Park, there are loads of walks that take you all along the canal - it was pretty good, especially because OH is something of a canal and railway anorak and knows loads of interesting snippets and non-tourist information about it all. Much better than sitting in the library doing coursework anyway! And it was free :money:We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
Spendy yesterday, but some good bargains and winter prep.
Spent nothing today but time in making a present for a friend, and a gallon of apple juice and a huge bowl of apple sauce to freeze in pound land baby food pots I got last week. Nom apple porridge in feburary!Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. Bad back and TOTM for me.........yeah how lucky am I
this has resulted in a not very productive day.
An update on the Sainsbobs service.........£10 goodwill voucher :j The manager rang me after I complained to HO and to be fair he was quite lovely. I have asked him not to take the offender outside and whip him though as although his crimes against me were offensive I do not believe he should be beaten :rotfl: I think they usually hand out £5 but got the extra because he obviously thought I was bonkersSent DH to collect vouchers and pick up some value beans and some more value hot choc so quite well stocked up now.
The virg!n saga and the internet not/intermittently working has resulted in £54 refund of the past three months internet bill and £10 goodwill of the bill. I must add that I do not think £10 is really that much of goodwill and does not nearly cover the amount of sanity lost either on hold, foreign call centres, poor service, phone put down etc I am sure I still have brick wall marks on my forehead :rotfl:
So although my walking is limited to that of a 92 year old woman I am becoming a dab hand at moaning like Victor Meldrew!!!

:hello: and afternoon to everyone
Got some bad news on Friday, particularly for OH, so have just been trying to get my head round it to be honest. Very upsetting and nothing we can do about it, but even so.
Nothing else to report really, still plodding along.Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Hello! All I've got time for at the moment is an occasional lurk. I just wanted to ask: has anyone else noticed that Cadbury's Dairy Milk has changed? I treated myself to a bar today. Very disappointing flat taste, in fact a waste of money as far as the 'yum factor' goes. Won't be wasting my hard-earned dosh on that again.
I suppose I could call it one less temptation to complicate my life. My usual reaction to chocolate is this: :EasterBun'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe
