Has anyone been to the Clarkes factory outlet in Street? My 8 year old needs new school shoes and I don't think there will be a sale for ages yet. Also I could do with some winter shoes but not at full price ! It's not far from Bristol but if the reductions are not that great it won't be worth the journey0

brrr, had the wood burner on last night and spent most of yesterday working on my computer wrapped up in blankets with a hot water bottle. I've ony got a pound to go then I'm back to my start of October weight but still 4lb's away from getting any tights, leggings or thermals on under any of my trousers. The burner doesn't count as heating though :-) I'll have to turn the hot water up a little as well when I do turn it on, probably at the stroke of midnight on the 31st October :-) I'm at my folks next week so I can use their heating for free :-)
Been hoarding away some charity shop finds for xmas presents, still got a quarter of the patchwork quilt for my sister to finish and I better do that soon before it gets too cold to work in that room.
Now I havent got a cat that pees on rugs I can put rugs down in the hall and against the very drafty back door. Need to look out for some floor draft proofing today.
And the traps are set for the mice.0 -

Hello fellow frugallers:j:j
A small bit of good news here - I got the job I was interviewed for on Monday [which came via a cheeky ad I put out on our local freecycle cafe board] so now have 20 hours admin pw split between two jobs- each is a business run from home with a dog. Took Charlie, the gorgeous Springer Spaniel, for a walk this morning and got paid for it!! Decided to cancel the other interview as it was one the agency had put me forward for and would again have been quite a corporate one. It's been 15 years since I was in a truly corporate enviroment [which is the only reason cited for me not being offered the other jobs] so am lacking in experience and tbh have no desire to go back to it either. Am now a self employed administrator woo hoo!! We're going to have to manage our money very carefully as obviously I shall be earning a lot less than when I was full time but it means I can spend more time at home and will have more time to save money and trim out expenses in other ways.
One of the positives I've already noticed is that I am making more things- I finally made a batch of elderberry cough syrup yesterday. I was starting a cold yesterday- took some and have been fine today. Am also starting to make some Halloween decs- am just finishing another pumpkin pompom [freecycle wool] and going to have a go at some little brooms
with a friend tomorrow!

Yum yum at the risotto SF - once you get the hang of how to make it, you have a fantastic store cupboard meall - just add in a little og what you fancy (my favourite is mushroom and pecorino cheese).
I harvested the last few raspberries today off the autumn bliss, and got curtain rails to be put up at the weekend (better get out the curtains then). I've also been decorating and got the paint at half price.Trying to keep in budget.
