Got up and thought I'd check my pigsback. What the....!!!!

Yes, have lost my £13 worth of credit as well, especially as all the mega deals are in cities...which I am nowhere near and would have to travel out of my way to get to. Currently, you need to have enough points to pay for a whole deal, but I think they are changing that soon to be able to part pay (good job, as £13 won't go very far!)

Am going to get rid of some of my cashback/survey sites soon, next time I have enough for a payment. Only keep the ones that are actually worth the time.

Have to take my cat to the vets today :( He has been kind of off his food for a couple of days and yesterday he was behaving like he had something stuck in his mouth that he couldn't get out  Stroked him under his chin and he was clearly in pain so think he has teeth problems...considering he is almost 19 though its to be expected really - aside from that he is in incredibly good nick, still jumping all over the place and being 'top cat' in our neighbourhood

Other plans for the the day are a jumble sale, a bit of reading for my course and Ebay as its free listings - sold quite a few things last time so the pile is actually going down (although I will probably increase it again at the jumbly today :D)
We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment

So annoying isn't it? I had £32 worth of credit. I really wish I'd transferred to Amazon quicker! I must admit though I've messaged Pigsback at least 4 times now because I get totally confused with this voucher/code thing and verifying my points and each time the reply has been really helpful and polite, so I can't fault them on that.
Hugs for your cat Blairweech. Our Jack is under the weather today, shes shaking a little and her back leg seems a bit weak. This happens now and again. She tears around the room at a hundred miles an hour so I think she pulls it occasionally. Hate it when she's not well :(

I don't believe in the concept of hell, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.

  • Blairweech hope you got on OK at the vets & Dizzie hope your wee one's leg is a bit better. They can be such a worry .....

Not a lot happening just now .... still hobbling around. Started my car today and let it run for a while as it's been lying unused for quite a while so hopefully it'll be OK for a while longer.

Made risotto for the 1st time for dinner - I love it but it's always seemed such a "clart" to make, I've never tried it before. Happy to say it was a succcess!:)

    Hello fellow frugallers:j
Hope you're feeling better now RFTA and DL and hugs on your bereavement Kerry Woman.

All's going quite well here at GBT- I have two interviews next week for more part time work- one as a result of a cheeky ad I put on our local freecycle cafe which isn't even been advertised. The other one I was put forward for by the agency. We shall have to see but good oh. Am off shortly for my "romantic" manure run and we're going to pick up more raspberry canes en route.

Have been really enjoying all the glorious weather- a chum and I went out walking [similar budgetary restraints:D] and were treated to the sight of circling buzzards. The first thing we do when we get together is swap books, mags, DVDs and she gives me wine that her husband wins in raffles because they don't drink. It's like our very own little lending library:D

The other thing that has been keeping me out of mischief is knitting- well to be honest a huge long scarf and hat that I'm got from the charity shop for £2 which I'm unravelling for the wool so that I can then reuse for the small person's blanket I'm making. All the wool I really like in the shops is :eek:price wise- £8 a ball [why do I have champagne tastes on a lemonade budget:rotfl::rotfl:]
Speaking of fizzy things- Mr GBT recently bottled our strawberry wine except on Friday we discovered that it had started refermenting- the clue was when the cork shot out and sprayed him with wine:rotfl:My Dad asked for a bottle last weekend so I rang him to warn him...I saw him yesterday and he said how much he and Mum had enjoyed their fizzy strawberry wine in the garden in the lovely weather...waste not want not...heriditary you see!!
Finally, hope these WD40 tips might be of use to someone- they were sent to me in an email. Haven't tried them so can't vouch for them;)

It's the first thing that has ever cleaned that
spotty shower screen. If yours is plastic, it works just as well as on
glass. It's a miracle! Then try it on your cooker top .... Kazamm! It's
now shinier than it's ever been. You'll be amazed.

    Here are some other uses:

    1. Protects silver from tarnishing.
    2. Removes road tar and grime from cars.
    3. Cleans and lubricates guitar 20 strings.
    4. Gives floors that 'just-waxed' sheen without making them slippery.
    5. Keeps flies off cows.
    6. Restores and cleans blackboards.
    7. Removes lipstick stains.
    8. Loosens stubborn zips.
    9. Untangles jewellery chains.
    10. Removes stains from stainless steel sinks.
    11. Removes dirt and grime from the barbecue grill.
    12. Keeps ceramic/terra cotta garden pots from oxidizing.
    13. Removes tomato stains from clothing.
    14. Keeps glass shower screens free of water spots.
    15. Camouflages scratches in ceramic and marble floors.16. Keeps scissors working smoothly.
    17. Lubricates noisy door hinges on vehicles and doors in homes.
    18. It removes black scuffmarks from the kitchen floor! Use WD-40 for
those nasty tar and scuff marks on flooring. It doesn't seem to harm the
finish and you won't have to scrub nearly as hard to get them off. Just
remember to open some windows if you have a lot of marks.
    19. Dead insects will eat away the finish on your car if not removed
    quickly! Use WD-40!
    20. Gives a children's playground gym slide a 20 shine for a super fast
    slide.
    21. WD-40 is great for removing crayon from walls. Spray on the mark and
    wipe with a clean rag.
    22. Also, if you've discovered that your teenage daughter has washed and
dried a tube of lipstick with a load of laundry, saturate the lipstick
spots with WD-40 and rewash. Presto! The lipstick is gone!
    23. Lubricates tracks in sticking home windows and makes them easier to
    open.
    24. Spraying an umbrella stem makes it easier to open and close.
    25. Restores and cleans padded leather dashboards in vehicles, as well
    as vinyl bumpers.
    26. Restores and cleans roof racks on vehicles.
    27. Lubricates and stops squeaks in electric fans.
    28. Lubricates wheel sprockets on tricycles, wagons, and bicycles for
    easy handling.
    29. Lubricates fan belts on washers and dryers and keeps them running
    smoothly.
    30. Keeps rust from forming on saws and saw blades, and other tools.
    31. Removes splattered grease on stove.
    32. Keeps bathroom mirror from fogging.
    33. Lubricates prosthetic limbs.
    34. Keeps pigeons off the balcony (they hate the smell).
    35. Removes all traces of duct tape.
    36. Folks even spray it on their arms, hands, and knees to relieve
    arthritis pain.
    37. WD-40 attracts fish. Spray a little on live bait or lures and you
will be catching the big one in no time. Also, it's a lot cheaper than
the chemical attractants that are made for just that purpose.Keep in mind though, using some chemical laced baits or lures for
fishing are not allowed in some counties.
    38. Use it for gnat bites. It takes the sting away immediately and stops
the itch.I can add another one......if you spray your garden pots around the sides it stops slugs/snails eating your plants: I can add another .... removes chewing gum from anything. And for some reason............spray it on your arthritic knee joints etc
and it will ease them.P. S. The basic ingredient is FISH OIL.

Just made some really frugal cards :) which can be used for any occasion so I have one to hand whatever the need! Made 8 all together so was well pleased for the small outlay of £1.29 (already had everything else)
The rest of the piccys are on my h*page.

  • RANT WARNING!!!

I have just been to Mr S. I rarely shop there but I like the value hot choc and thought I would stock pile for the winter.

Few bits in the trolley and I dashed to the checkouts. Shopping scanned and the lady asked for my card but the machine had nothing on the display..........put card in (as told) and the machine pops up with can not read card  The lady said "lets try again"........fair enough, the machine still had nothing on the display so I told the lady. Finally she managed to catch the eye of her supervisor who finally came over. The lady explained what happened and he said "do you want to put your shopping back or do you want to collect it later" I said in the nicest possible way (through gritted teeth as I have now lost 10 minutes of my life) "I do not understand what is the problem?" to which he said in a loud voice "Can you pay for your shopping or not??" In front of a very long line of huffing and puffing shoppers :mad::mad:

"Yes I can pay for my shopping it is your machine playing up!!!!" to which he reset the till and it accepted my card.......no appology, nothing. I told the lady at the till how unhappy I was with being asked if I could pay for my shopping and felt poorly treated, her reply was "well all the young ones are like that!!"

By this time I wanted to go and find the manager and string him to the check out but had to pick DGD up from school.

Livid!!!!! Is it because I had mostly value items in the trolley??? He assumed I was an unable to pay person or is it more and more people are getting their cards declined at the supermarkets??? Whatever the case is CUSTOMER SERVICE would not go amiss would it??
