  • Thanks it would probably be machine if thats alright although I don't mind doing hand patchwork if it helps
The easiest way to do machine patchwork is to carefully cut out squares of the same size then sew them together, right sides facing using the nearest marker on the base of the sewing machine - usually 1cm. You can do a row of them, just one after the other so you end up with sort of double bunting. Cut the joining threads, open them out and join them again, and again until you have long strips. These need ironing to open out the seams. It's easier to join them together lengthwise if you don't want the squares to line up so if you cut off half of one of the squares on a long length then sew it lengthwise to another long length you end up with a sort of brick pattern rather than a checkerboard.
I'll try to find a youtube to explain it better :-)

Seriously... I'll post some links too tomorrow. I love doing patchwork, ESP from old clothes and jumble finds.

dizzy... Which mouse loft kit did u loose? How annoying though.

Had a spendy day... Well bargains.... 3 carrier bags of end of bolt fabrics... Pinstripe velvet, tweed, shirt fabric, wool tweed... At for £10. I'm very pleased. They will let me make some folk art style softies and wall hangings. I used to sell primitive folk art crows in a friends shop till she gave it up... Now another friend is thinking of ordering some from me. I'm SO chuffed, but also kinda scared.

My Mum found inner strength to cope with my Aunt's funeral on the day. Family from Ireland came over. Taking each day as it comes.

Finally, got rid of a bag of things to the charity shop. Have done some other decluttering.

At M&S this week, we got 2 boxes of nice biscuits and 2 free for Christmas. (BOGOF) Saved £11.98. Presents for people.

On Sunday when I finished my casual work, they were giving away boxes of samples that were left over. So got toothpaste samples and 40g boxes of cereal. They were also giving these to members of the public.

Still doing Mr. A price guarantee and getting some money off. Stocking up on tins for the winter. First time I have ever done this. Mainly getting Smart Price tins.

My sister lent us some books to read. Also used a voucher and some birthday money to get some books that I wanted.

Been out a few times with my Mum to have a look around the shops. Awaiting for my next temping job.

    2016 Sell: £125/£250
    £1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000
    Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!
  • We haven't had a water or electricity bill since we have moved into this place! We have contacted the suppliers but nothing. Very confusing but as we have been treating that money as spent it won't impact us. I just can't add what they should be to this until we get a bill for them, grr.

We are now up to £3,148.24/£5,000 = 62.9648%
We are through 78.63% of the year.

I have a feeling with electricity and water on that if would be around 70% of the budget spent. Hoping to get those bills soon.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D
