tumpty - oh dear, you poor thing. I hope you're okay this evening, sending you some (((HUGS))) your way xx
23rdspiral - hope things work out for you too; I'm not sure when men get all macho when drunk either, silly things!
nat - Glad this morning went well, and :D to the package in the post!

Well, I have an interview for a TA job on Friday morning. Obviously isn't not as good as teaching, but it's better than nothing. I'm trying not to think about the wages, or lack of, or the fact that I'm trained as a teacher but not doing it at the moment. I'm just trying to take one step at a time, otherwise I think I may just cry... :o

On a positive note, I've had another NSD today, which has to count for something. We're really going to have to cut back, where possible, over the next month or so, so I'm off to a good start :)

Ooh Tumpty that really is awful.

I know I will have to take Marmalde soon.

They gave me two months worth of tablets a few weeks back as they were very pleased with her but she really seems to be declining quite quickly now.

I'm hoping she'll just pop her clogs of her own accord but she's always been naughty bless her!

Natnat yes son is a very successful model after being scouted when he was a chef to Gordon in a previous life.

Girlie and I were very sad yesterday and saw him when we were walking past Reiss in Westfield and had to tell the poor lad at the door we were family, then we had to go and find him again in Swatch before we left!:rotfl:

What a lovely gran! Glad your morning went well!

    Hello fellow frugallers:j
Thank you so much for all my birthday wishes and your poem SandraScarlett. Huge hugs to all those having a rough time at the mo' - good luck with the interview SF.
I started my part time job yesterday- so far so good. The chap is really nice and very laid back. Still need to find something else which could take a little while as really would like another part time position. Having come from a full time job that I did enjoy but often having to deal with some very challenging clients I really do just want something simple these days. I've paid £6 to put an ad in the local paper so shall see if that gets any response aswell as continuing to look for work online. When I feel a bit braver I might do some local fliers and drop them off round the industrial estates.
Only very low spends here- couple of small items have been bought from the CS and added to the Chrimbo gift stash and am hoping to get along to our local hospital booksale [never been able to go before because was always working]. I have an appointment with the volunteer bureau tomorrow to see if I can get a few hours sorted out....would like to give something back as have got the time at the mo' and you never know where these things might lead.

Ruby I remember you showing us a pic of your son in one of his ads and he's very handsome.

Slowly hope all goes well with the interview. We'll have all our fingers and toes crossed for you.

Tumpty sending huge warm hugs through the computer during this tough time for you and one that all animal lovers dread.

Spiral hope whatever has happened turns out to be a storm in a teacup and is a 'least said soonest mended' moment.

Natnat pleased all went well at school.

SeriouslyFrugal the slowcooker sounds a good idea. How chilly has it gone over last couple of days. Where did the Sun go? Please come back...sigh.gif

Not much to report here. Blimming internet and telly keep going on the blink and all V*r*in say is 'there's a problem in the area and we're hoping to have it sorted within 24 hours' Hmmm quite a few problems then in the space of a week. May have to look at alternatives, especially as DS does a lot of his college work on the computer.
School of Rock is on and I love that film especially as Jack Black is in it, but I think a bath and early to bed calls. I'll just watch a bit more of the film though first...:D
    Pouring down here now.
    Hugs to all

  • Sorry I haven't responded to any posts, or PMs, had a dreadful few days with DH, then DD was taken ill. She has a history of mental health problems, and has been fine for 2 years, but they've tinkered with her medication, and she flipped yesterday. I've been trying to clone myself looking after both, getting hospital appointments and doctors appointments, as well as the school run for DGD.

My SIL contacted their GP, who was supposed to leave a prescription at the surgery, prior to going on house calls at noon, which never materialised, then numerous telephone calls later, over a period of about 4 hours, the receptionist telephoned to say she'd found it.

I'd just served dinner, so plonked DGD in the car with her spag bol in a bowl (!), and made it to the surgery where the receptionist had her back turned, and was having an animated conversation with a colleague, laughing and joking.

I said "excuse me" several times, eventually she strolled over, no apology whatsoever, for keeping me waiting or mislaying the prescription. I broke the 4 minute mile running to the chemist (it was now 5 to 6) and DGD said I should apply for the Veterans Olympics!

DD now has medication to see her through till tomorrow when DSIL and I have an appointment to take her to the MH hospital. I know this sounds terribly selfish, and I should be ashamed of myself, but I was so looking forward to going on a coach trip on Saturday. I do these about 4 times a year and DD and DGD come over and sit with DH, for a few hours, to break the day up, cos I'm out for 10 hours.

And now I can't go. :( If I was a drinker, I'd drown my sorrows, but it doesn't have the same effect to have 3 coffees! DH doesn't know what he's saying half the time, but, after I'd taken DGD home, and did what I could over there, and then returned home, at about 8, and sunk into the chair, DH, with perfect clarity, said "Well, you can't go out Saturday now, can you". And I felt like Cinderella.

    Sorry, rant over.

    xx

Hugs to you tumpty and spiral. It's amazing what will happen when folks have a few too many (speaking from experience here).

Have had a NSD here and tomorrow I'm also at home most of the day, although I do need to go and pick up a book in town so will need to pay for that (its for my son's studies).

I can't see how this month will come in on budget at the moment - it's so tight - maybe I'll have a go at ebaying something. It will get better next month I know and I'm not worrying myself, just trying to get on with things. I think tomorrow I'll do a bit in the garden to kwep me occupied.
    Trying to keep in budget.
