    hi all,

I recieved my giant cupcake silicone mould today, keen to give it a go I made up some cupcake mix (i made double the normal mix to fill one half, the same for the other half - the mould is xxxl!)...

however, it ended in disaster! i cooked it for around an hour - and it was still runny in the middle!!!! Eventually i gave up & binned the mix. Feeling rather gutted now.

Ive looked everywhere online for a good mix, cooking times & temperatures for this but cant find anything! If anyone can help i'd be very very grateful! x

    Hi

what temp did you bake it on? I made my fisrt giant cupcake at the weekend in a silicone mould and baked it at 150 for about 45 mins for the bottom half and it turned out perfect maybe you had the oven to high so it cooked on the outside not the inside

I used the good food vanilla cupcake recipe for my giant cupcake. I multiplied the quantities by 3 (6 eggs) and it turned out really well. it was lovely and moist.

Thank you! Did you use the syrup or just use it without adding the syrup? I have visions of it collapsing under its own weight

This weekend I made my first ever proper tiered cakes, was making the 3 tier already (plus 35 cake pops), then got a phonecall from an old friend the night before she needed the Cricket 2 tiered one asking if I could possibly squeeze it in.... So I did... 2 cakes, 24 hours and a lot of Cake pops later....

    Sorry about size of Photos!!!!!

Has anyone used the Wilton 3D Sports Ball tin? I've just got one and wondered how much mix I would need for one half? The instructions say that you need 4 and a half cups for both halves.

    Thank you x

Wow! I love this! Can I ask you how you do the lettering? Do you use cutters or freehand? And what have you used to cover the cake - sugarpaste or fondant? xx

    Hi,

Have been along time lurker on here and have been inspired by all the lovely cakes.

I am going to try and make some Penguins out of sugar paste to do the iceberg cake in the Asda book.

Does anyone know if i can colour the fondant myself or do i need to buy it ready coloured ? If i need to buy it does anyone have any recommendations of where to buy it from ?

    Thanks

You can buy ready coloured fondant quite reasonably from ebay if you'd rather - in fact I saw some very nice fondant penguins on there the other day!
