Mine never seem to come out like that either! Even with a 1M! They never seem to have enough height, if that makes sense!!!0 -
Yes its a 1M wilton nozzle and it is butter cream.
Buttercream recipe for 24 cupcakes
250g lurpak unsalted
500g icing
2 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
5 tbs of milk
Place in food processor for 2 mins scrape down and process for another 2 or 3 mins.
Colour as you want.
I start piping from the outside in and go right around the edge then slightly further in (closer to the centre) then a big blob to finish with.
Voila
Heres some I made for my sister in laws gold party she had recently

how do you get your cakes 'straight' mine always seem to go 'out' but i do only make them 'bun size'0
-
You need to buy the right size case for the tin you have otherwise they will spread (is that what you mean?)
Cupcake cases come in so many differant sizes it can be a mine field, I have been caught out in the past.
Plus I use a deep muffin tin so they cant spread not one you would make shallow mince pies in.
By the way I have an addiction I need to tell you all about I cant stop buying cake/cupcake cases, I must have about 40 differant patterns.
I used to have the same problem with sprinkles but seem to have managed to stop buying so many of these.0 -
Hi
Anyone know best colours to use to get a bright halloween orange and green.
ThanksYearly Grocery Budget - £100.77/ £3500. January Treats Budget - £11.80 / £100.0 -
Think I'm going to make some of the cookies folded in half with the jelly teeth in for the other half in time for Halloween. In fact I might make White choc chip and add orange food colouring for a Halloween theme pumpkin and maybe some strawberry jam in the mouth! (sorry OP forgotten your username but thanks for the inspiration!)
In the meantime - I know they're not cakes but I made these last week:

I got some 'colour gels' they are in little pots with screw lids, they are £2 each in my local cake shop ( cakeflair labels on) or I bought a set of 8 in the range if thats closer for you which as £15.99 so still worked out the same ( but someone bought them for me so i got the wilton set!) i use them on butter icing or rolled icing which does give the best effect, also best to colour them a day or two before as it intensifies as time goes on. i made dad a 'leaf green' colour golf course cake( further down page) for 6th oct, i just got the rest of the icing out to make dinosaur cakes this weekend and it is now a really bright green!!!Hi
