Use a box the same size as your board, and you can get "corners" for cake boxes, which are strips of cardboard that go into the corners of the box, to raise the lid
  • I made mine last week :)

Thank you. I will get to work tonight then soaking my fruit. I usually soak it in rum or brandy but im going to try whisky this year. My mum had some lurking in the back of her cupboard and suggested I used it for xmas cakes.
My opinion is neither copyrighted nor trademarked, and it's price competitive. If you like, I'll trade for one of yours.

so girls, I took the plunge tonight and ventured into Lakeland to look at their new cakey things. Oh, I seriously could've gone nuts in there!!

I finally settled on a pouch of the strawberry buttons and the white chocolate buttons, 2 tubs of tiny little pink and red heart sprinkles that are soooooooo cute (they had tiny little white butterflies as well) and a tip brush to clean out my icing nozzles. the multi coloured regalice looks excellent, as does the magic icing in the tubs. Will be braver and spend more money next time!!
You're so very special, I wish I was special

You're welcome. I soaked the fruit for 4 or 5 days last year (I kept finding other things to do instead of bake so I just kept adding brandy to the bowl and leaving it) and I fed it every few days. The cake practically sloshed in the icing by Christmas! It only got 12 hours soaking this year though.

Everybody told me it was good anyway - I can't eat it :(

do you have a round cookie cutter? maybe you could use a straw or something to make the little holes in the middle
