I am after some cake decorating advice please. I can do cupcakes no problem and I can bake a good cake (so people tell me) the problem I have is decorating them!! I can't seem to get the fondant to go on smoothly. I am not sure if I rolled it too thin, any advice please. SWould love to do a cake decorating class but can't find one local to me (Leeds, W Yorkshire)
  • Hi everyone .
New to this fab forum & recently started baking & decorating cakes .I am doing an evening class at night school and really enjoying it .Everyone is so good on here and I'm after some advice .We are doing a bonfire cake this week ,complete with matchmaker chocolates (yum)-we need to bake a cake in a pudding bowl to take which i'm ok with as i've done this before. My question is: does anyone know if you can make a chocolate madeira cake ?I have a tried and tested recipe that I always use but would ike to do a chocolate one as it is meant to be a bonfire .
    Thanks

hi and welcome, whenever I've done chocolate I remove the flour, so on a 8oz butter, sugar, flour mix to 4 eggs i would remove 1oz flour and replace with 1oz cocoa. hope this helps :-)

just going to upload a cake for someone at work in the office :-)

All they asked for for this was bright colours and Happy Birthday and the polish message on top so I hope they like it. Collecting it tomorrow.

These cupcakes were for a christening yesterday and it took me and my cake buddy a lot of hours to make all the little toppers and get it all together.

My sis has offered to bake a batch of cakes for an event but I am to provide the butter which she says is the most pricy part of baking. Are there any deals/suggestions of which is best so long as it's unsalted as she requested.

    Thanks
