Lets see the fancy icing one too! Loving the little computer mouses/mices lol what ever they are called
Heres my cakes from this week
All they asked for for this was bright colours and Happy Birthday and the polish message on top so I hope they like it. Collecting it tomorrow.
These cupcakes were for a christening yesterday and it took me and my cake buddy a lot of hours to make all the little toppers and get it all together.

That is stunning. The little cakes are soo cute with the toppers, what a brilliant idea.0 -
My sis has offered to bake a batch of cakes for an event but I am to provide the butter which she says is the most pricy part of baking. Are there any deals/suggestions of which is best so long as it's unsalted as she requested.
Thanks
I generally buy supermarket own unless theres something on special offer, sometimes even buy the value ones and have had no problems with any. Your probably looking at £1.30 - £1.50 a packet though so it is pricey. Some people just use stork for baking but I tend to use butter for cupcakes and stork for cakes.Hi everyone!
I've finally got some photos to add but it's ben about 2 years since I posted pictures on here and can't remember how to do it! I don't remember ever having to upload them to a hosting site first but can't remember how to get them to show up in my posts
Can anyone help please???
Thank you in advance x
I upload to photobucket and then post links on here.

I am after some cake decorating advice please. I can do cupcakes no problem and I can bake a good cake (so people tell me) the problem I have is decorating them!! I can't seem to get the fondant to go on smoothly. I am not sure if I rolled it too thin, any advice please. SWould love to do a cake decorating class but can't find one local to me (Leeds, W Yorkshire)0

the person having issues getting smooth icing?
I'm not brilliant at this but i found by covering the cake in butter icing before you ice it helps. then once covered with rolled icing use the palm of your hand to make circle motions- you can buy a smoother which is only about £4/5 and just a sheet of plastic with a handle but palm is free and for now will do! hth x0 -

Roll the fondant no thinner than 1/4inch. If its too thin you will never get a smooth surface. Cover the cake in a thin layer of buttercream first and let it set. Do another layer if you need to. Just make sure you have a nice flat smooth edge before you try to put the fondant on and that the buttercream has set. If the buttercream hasnt set then the fondant will just end up pushing in between the layers of the cake. Use a cake smoother to finish it offHi everyone .
New to this fab forum & recently started baking & decorating cakes .I am doing an evening class at night school and really enjoying it .Everyone is so good on here and I'm after some advice .We are doing a bonfire cake this week ,complete with matchmaker chocolates (yum)-we need to bake a cake in a pudding bowl to take which i'm ok with as i've done this before. My question is: does anyone know if you can make a chocolate madeira cake ?I have a tried and tested recipe that I always use but would ike to do a chocolate one as it is meant to be a bonfire .
Thanks
:T
For chocolate Madeira you can just substitute some of the flour for cocoa powder
