    Hi,
I love making cakes but no where near as good as most on here,

Can i ask what you use to top the Cupcakes with--is it just butter icing? as it looks so creamy mine,s never that smooth, and how you get them to look like a perfect flower?

Also-last question:o--how do you get the rainbow colours? all the cakes on here are amazing--i,m just hungry now looking at them :rotfl:

hiya, I use buttercream on my cupcakes and sift the icing sugar and use a stand mixer to beat my icing.

Try checking out you tube for tutorials on different icing techniques. Ive learnt loads from there including my roses which I have perfected with little practice but I do love doing them and the reactions I get. Also the rainbow swirl ones are easier than you think and so effective.

It's great to see so many new people in this thread. I'm loving all the cakes. Wonderful!

Here's my latest effort. A 70th birthday cake for my church pastor, plus cake pops and a model of the birthday boy :)

Wow a new thread! Its been sometime for me, set up my new company https://www.carys-cakes.com and done event after event, had quite a few orders too and then had a brainwave https://www.cakepopkits.co.uk, can i have some honest thoughts on these kits would you buy them to dabble at cake pops, buy to give as a gift to someone, or even buy to make and then give to people as presents. I have a Christmas market stall which I need to make a decision on and want some honest opinions on these please.
Oh and my facebook page is http://www.facebook.com/cakepopkits
Will have to spend some time this week having a catch up with your cakes, never could get into putting my pics on here, do I need to set up something like flickr or something, lots of my pics on https://www.facebook.com/caryscakes
    Thank you in advance

  • I love your cakes - I've admired them on facebook for a while now.

Have been thinking about cake pops and quite like the idea of buying a kit to try them out. Does the £15 per kit include delivery?

Aw thanks, I have actually lowered the price to £12.50 which with delivery would be £15.50, this price is on ebay at the moment and website will be updated soon with new price, I have managed to negotiate some deals on the bits that go in them. Thank you for your opinion!

Kits look interesting. Personally, I'd like to see a photo of the finished article, rather than a cartoon, so I can see what I would have as an end result :-)
    Now proud Mumto3 :j

so, I was busy at the weekend christening my new whoopie pie tins, they are amazing, love them so much, they were so easy to use and to clean afterwards!

here are a couple of pics, just filled them with buttercream and dusted with icing sugar, will be a bit more adventurous next time I make them I think, they went down a storm though!

they do look interesting, as someone who has never tried to make cake pops, and therefore doesn't know how complicated/easy it is, this would be a good place to start, and the outlay will only be for this kit if I found out it wasn't for me. Will definately think about buying one when I get paid x :)
