Not doing very well with my cakes atm, argh! I tried a chocolate courgette cake, mum had loads from the allotment so thought I would have a go and found a recipe online. It was in the oven for an hour and still wasnt cooked, so i just took it out and gave up lol, it does actually taste really good, just a little under cooked! I will have another go at it sometime, I also want to try making beetroot choc cake, the beetroot stains it such a nice colour!
AnnieH - thankyou! I've just bought a fondant wheel! instead of using a embossing rolling pin, can I use patterned stamps?...the ones that you use when making cards?0 -

I suppose anything you could use to make an impression would be fine for fondant. Stamps, biscuit cutters etc. I wouldn't use anything you've previously used for other crafts though. Get new ones, just to be on the safe side.0 -
Really love baking and wanting to get into sugarcraft and proper cake/cupcake decorating. Does anyone know of any good tutorial websites or list of things i would need to get started?0

You need quite a sturdy recipe for that. I used Hummingbird recipe and it turned out rubbish.
You could try this one http://www.lindyscakes.co.uk/Blog/2011/02/02/lindys-chocolate-fudge-cake-recipe/ and there's also a section on how to change quantities on there too.0 -

My sons birthday is coming up in September and he doesn't want a party so we are heading to the Lego Discovery centre and other places for the weekend. He pretty much only plays with lego, he has lots of other toys but it is always new inventions with Lego! If you do make them what sort of price do you charge? PM me if you prefer
I remembered seeing a post somewhere on the forum with lego themed party stuff and sending it to my sister as her 7 yr old is a lego fanatic.
Here's the thread. :-)0 -

Hi would you be able to share the recipe you used? I have used my giant cupcake mould a couple of times but both times the cake has collapsed. I have greased the mould well but wonder if it is the margarine I am using - it is soya dairy free. tiasaving for ds2's summer international scout camp - £200

It's almost definitely the margarine. It has a really high water content.do you *need* to use margarine? Butter is so much better for baking, but obviously it's not suitable for everyone0 -
Yes certainly... after much thought, I used this recipe http://www.bakingmad.com/recipes/cupcakes/giant-cupcake-recipe first time I have used golden caster sugar and I replaced 25% of the flour for cocoa powder as my grandson likes chocolate cake. It took a full hour to cook...possible a bit more. I was a bit worried because it still looked quite sloppy in the centre when I checked it ¾ of the way through cooking...but came out fine. I coated mould well with stork margarine then tossed flour around in it. it ! When it came out and cooled slightly I then slice the rounded bit off the top piece...so it will lie flat when placed together
The mould I have is the red 3 piece one from Big Top cupcake and the instructions with it were not very good.0
